Boys meet girls, hope meets despair, they meet love.
The film structure can be divided into three encounters: encountering sound, encountering face, and encountering heart. The three links are interlocked, and the superposition finally sublimates. It is a latecomer of the French New Wave, with a French romance and a little bit of grimness. As Carax's debut, it is generally mature and should not be underestimated. 1. Yusheng: The boy Alex's girlfriend cheated with his best friend, the girl Mirella lost her lover, and the boy had a desire in his heart, so he stopped in front of the girl's walkie-talkie downstairs. The first time Alex "meeted" the girl was through the walkie-talkie, the girl's boyfriend told his apprehension about the love between the two, and the boy met the girl's voice. 2. Encounter: The tone of the film is reflected in the hand-held photography at the beginning and the hoarse and choppy voice-over, erratic and incomprehensible, while the fiery inner feelings of the boy and the girl are even stronger. The boy accidentally enters a private party, where Alex meets Mirella, the short-haired Mirella. For the first time, director Karax put the two together in space and paved the way for their encounter. 3. Encountering the Heart: The same heart can be called meeting, and both Alex and Mirella are actually infatuated. The boy's girlfriend moved away and discussed the details of his sex with his friend, but Alex couldn't give up his love for his girlfriend and sent her a letter and a record. Mirella loves her boyfriend and can give everything for her love. After the two met, they told their feelings. The boy saw hope in despair, but sadly, the girl had no power to love, and Mirella had no place for Alex in her heart. The two seem to be able to collide with sparks of love, but in the end, the ending turned out to be a tragedy. In addition, the director's handling of the details of the objects has profound implications. The backside of the oil painting in Alex's home records some of his event details. Through panning, we can know that love and desire are the prominent parts of Alex's character. His girlfriend left a scarf, which is her favorite color, and the boy's clothes are exactly the same style, which shows Alex's unrepentant love for his girlfriend. The many appearances of the pinball machine symbolize the collision and separation of the heart. The gap on the cup and the incomplete glass on the window of the phone booth imply that the hearts of the two people are hurt by love and their encounter will not have a happy ending... The setting of the ending surprised the audience, and Mirella died, but when we lamented this, the picture returned to not long ago. After setting the suspense, the front camera was used to answer the answer: it turned out that Mirella heard Eric After Si's voice, he hid the scissors in his arms. Alex's last hug ended Mirella's life, and the girl died in the arms of love. What's even more ironic is that the two fell to the ground, and the couple on the opposite side were still snuggling together and looking up at the starry sky. Love intoxicates those on one side and plunges those on the other into the abyss. The whole film is like a joke about love. Love is not one-sided good or evil, but a whole of opposites. They live for love, they despair for love, they love for love, and they die for love. Love is often intoxicating, but it can also "kill" people.
