Whether the killer Vincent or the taxi driver Max, they are just lonely existences in this indifferent city. Vincent's list is to kill 5 people. He successfully killed the first 4, but he didn't expect to become the fifth. Before he died, he sat on a subway chair and said to Max: "Hey Max. A guy gets on the MTA here in LA and dies. Think anybody will notice?" ?)" When he first met with Max, when he got in Max’s taxi, he said: "I read about this guy, gets on the MTA here, dies. Six hours he's riding on the subway before anybody notices his corpse doing laps around LA, people on and off sitting next to him. Nobody notices. The film echoes before and after.
This city is indifferent. When Max was handcuffed to the car, he asked passers-by for help, but he was robbed by passers-by. When his taxi was damaged by the first victim falling from a high altitude, he called the taxi company. Obviously there was auto insurance, the boss threatened him to lose money. In the nightclub, even if someone fell by their side, everyone turned a blind eye until the gunshots rang out.
Vincent is a polite, gentle-spoken man who likes jazz and is kind. He helped Max punish the robbers; helped him reprimand the rental shop owner; took him to the hospital to see his mother, and even had to help his mother buy flowers. It is not easy to teach Max’s mother to have a baby in October; even it’s important for Max to throw him away He also just pressed him to the ground when he received the information.
But he is also a meticulous person. He noticed that Max is a very caring person who cares about hygiene in the car and dreams of a car. He also noticed that Max has a girl’s business card but has not dared to call, so he and Max said: "One day your dreams will come true? One day you will wake up and find that your dreams don’t come true. Suddenly you are old again. Your dreams will not come true because you will not do it at all. You will forget your dreams every day. Sit down and be hypnotized by the TV. Don't talk to me about murder, you just need to pay the down payment to buy a luxury car. And that woman, you dare not send it to her. Why are you still driving a taxi?" This sentence really appears in the aspirations of many people who have dreams but never do it. Max replied: "Because I didn't really review my life, I tried to gamble on luck, but it was unsuccessful." This sentence actually hit his heart a bit, so he lost control and speeding and wanted to die with Vincent.
The ending was sad, Vincent died at the last stop of the Los Angeles subway. He is a contradiction, murderous and kind. In this cold city, he has nothing. So when will his body be discovered?
