Paula Bell has won the Berlin actress affirmation with "UNDINE". Seemingly a bit bizarre, a bit supernatural love movie, "Wendini" is actually a very Berlin movie. For viewers who don't know much about Germany's past, this is a somewhat "not easy to watch" movie.
"Wendini" is one of the ancient myths in Europe. The director placed the fate of "Wendini" in contemporary Berlin, intertwined with the past events of the "Humboldt Forum" that will open at the end of 2020.
The "Humboldt Forum" poured into Germany's ambition to make Berlin a cultural center city, and its predecessor was the Berliner Stadtschloss (Berliner Stadtschloss). The Berlin City Palace was originally the royal palace of the Kingdom of Prussia. It was demolished during the German Democratic Republic, and the East German government built the Palace of the Republic on the same site. After the reunification of the two Germanys, the "New Germany" decided to close down the Palace of the Republic, and then decided to completely demolish it. After more than 20 years, the Palace of the Republic was finally razed to the ground, and the Berlin City Palace was rebuilt on the same site.
The history of the city, the symbolic relationship between iconic buildings and history, the subtle projected relationship between the individual and history, the ideological commitment is as elusive as love.
