Start with gems, end with gems.
What exactly do gems represent? Howard thought gems were life-saving and could change fate. He thought the stakes would turn him over and start over. But everything, over and over, sinks deeper and deeper. When he finally thought he had come out, he was shot dead.
The whole movie is full of helplessness, attempts to make up, sadness, excitement and loss. Layer by layer into Howard's heart, like uncut gems. There is a universe in the gem, with infinite possibilities, all the joys, sorrows, joys and sorrows. But in the end, it was just an ordinary stone.
