The narrative structure of the movie has nothing to say, it is very pleasing to the eyes of the movies I have watched in the past few years. The core of the story takes place in a few days of chatting, but the full content is narrated in a non-linear half-dream and half-awake period. Until the end of the film, there is a feeling of waking up from a dream. It is not like spending a full two hours. It can be seen that Burton's narrative ability has greatly improved.
However, as a musical, the music is ugly to death. Eh, I mean the melody is very monotonous, although it does enhance the atmosphere of the movie to a certain extent. The male and female Depp jumped out from behind the scenes in "Corpse Bride" and joined hands again, but in reality the two did not call. In my opinion, these two Depps with similar appearances and similar stage personalities will be very popular if one of them is placed in a crowd of people, such as "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Once Upon a Time in Mexico", "Fight Club" "Or even "Harry Porter", but if you put these cold two together, the taste is much worse. (The Italian barber played by Borat is very funny and has achieved good theater effects...)
Director Timberton has always been known for his dark background but warm heart, but this time he has changed his style. Although the justice of karma is maintained, it is a very desperate and depressing story overall. Therefore, although purely considering the structure and technology of the film, this film represents an advancement for Burton, but the change in style will somewhat disappoint the audience.
The movie's rate is "R", which should be one of the few movies he has been assigned to this level.
