Some memorable lines (CCTV version)

The world is turning,
you are just a speck of dust, and
even if you disappear,
the earth still turns.
The reality will not change according to your will,
because the will of others is stronger.
The cruelty of life can make people overwhelmed,
so some people are immersed in confusion and confusion all day long,
unwilling to open their eyes to see the situation clearly, and
unwilling to think about which small factors have accumulated to
cause such a situation.

Why can't it be me?
What's so special about them?
Is it because of their origin?
I tried my best to
keep myself from falling to the bottom of society.
What if, if I try harder?
I'm very close to that membrane now, within reach,
(Teacher: It takes effort, but it's not impossible.)

I want to be on an equal footing with others, not inferior.
I want to go to Harvard, get a good education, and read all the good books,
so I can't help but wonder, am I supposed to
use every ounce of my potential?
- I have to succeed, I have no choice.

Every day I wake up, everyone in the world I see
seems to be covered in a film that cannot be penetrated.
This feeling is strange and a little sad, but there is no way to change it.
Why are these people acting so different?
Is it because the world they came from is so different?
If so, then I have to work harder and harder to push myself into that world.

Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story quotes

  • Chris: I don't want to go to school. I don't belong there and neither do you.

    Liz Murray: Yes, I do.

Chris: You think they let people like us in to Harvard?

  • Liz Murray: I loved my mother, so much. She was a drug addict. She was an alcoholic. She was legally blind. She was a schizophrenic. But I never forgot, that she did love me. Even if, if she did. All the time. All the time. All the... All the time.
