From Half to Whole

There's no better half in this world, but it's the reaching out to love that makes us whole and become who we want to be.

Director Wu, are you trying to fascinate me with my favorite philosopher?

After watching two interviews, I realized why I liked this movie. The translated name of Campus Love Saint is not in place. Although the story scene is set in high school, it is by no means as simple as telling a campus love story. Reminds me of ted talk a few days ago about Harvard's famous 75 years of happiness research: those with harmonious social relationships (friends/family/community) live the longest and have the highest happiness index.

Love is not the whole of life, and it doesn't matter if you can't find your soul mate.

There were two Pauls by my side in middle school, just like he kissed Ellie in the movie. A friend of the opposite sex offered to open a room with me when I had a girlfriend (first love). She was very angry when she found out and asked me to draw a line with him. . The university was lucky enough to meet another Paul and we are still in touch now, but there was a big interlude. After I broke up with my first love, she left all our memories in the tiny house we lived in together, and I couldn't take it anymore and asked Paul to stay with me for a few days and help me move. In those days, I was sobbing while packing my things. I couldn't fall asleep sitting beside the bed crying in the middle of the night, and he sat next to me and listened to me cry. One night his ex-girlfriend's friend saw it and accused him of cheating. People in the entire major and even the college thought I was a junior because of his ex-girlfriend's circle of friends. So when I heard Alice's words: We have been taught to love like this since we were young, I burst into tears.

I like the way she handles the ending, but I don't like seeing this youthful love end like this. (If you want to make a sequel, please give a close-up of the two heroines.) There are many sneer points in the middle, and the lively atmosphere is very cute; the confession in the church and the kiss in the street successfully put me on a time shuttle. Only in school days would there be so much thoughtfulness.

I heard her tell the story of her senior year and her parents coming out of the closet. She said that she didn't know how to express gay in Mandarin because she had never been in contact with her since she was a child. (Who isn't/I think that's one of the reasons why she writes code and makes movies as a side business, right?

She's a talented storyteller, inspiring all of us to make a difference in this fuckedup world.

People can't catch up with the train, but do you think the boy who chases the train for the girl you love is stupid? No, you are actually very moved. Love starts with deceiving yourself and ends with deceiving others. In the beginning, you always have to convince yourself to believe in something and do something that you wouldn't normally do. It's messy and stupid, but there is no doubt that it's also very Brave.

Compared with sixteen years ago, teenage love is a little more complicated and mature. The big triangle of this "dog blood" is quite interesting. BTW, there are so few straight guys that are subtle and funny.

The Half of It quotes

  • Ellie Chu: I'm Ellie Chu.

Aster Flores: Yes, I know. You've only been playing my dad's services every Sunday for, like, four years. You're his favorite heathen. He can't handle mediocre accompanists, even if they ARE saved.

  • Ellie Chu: The good thing about being different is that no one expects you to be like them.
