This is a story about forgetting.
However, let's start with change.
What changes will happen if a person hides in a secret room for 30 years.
On that morning in 1936, Inio Blanco was the most astute.
Faced with danger, people and animals have the same instinctive response.
When adrenaline rushes into our brains, we are beasts.
The word beast sounds very ferocious. In fact, many beasts choose to leave their minds blank when facing death, freeze on the spot, and allow predators to bite.
Ineo is another, more in line with our first impression of the word "beast". The one who would rather bite off his own leg than escape from a trap.
That's what Inio Blanco was when he started the run. It is a wild animal that drags its internal organs out of the body to escape the siege.
Is the situation really that bad for Ineo to be so crazy?
The film does not give the audience a chance to question. The pursuers shot and killed the escapees without hesitation.
Once the prey hiding in the well is discovered, there is no need to arrest it, and it can be shot and killed.
For hunters, the basis for judging whether the work related to the well is complete is simple, whether the people inside are dead.
Their mission is to annihilate, without identification or recovery of remains.
Such human activity is more like scavenging pests, not even hunting.
If hunting, at least carry the spoils back for dinner. Or hang your head on the wall as a souvenir.
In this way, people like Inio Blanco are not important enough to have commemorative value.
These hunters were not invaders, they were all Spaniards, compatriots, and possibly villagers and neighbors.
The difference between the chasing and the fleeing is that their camps are different and their positions are different.
This is civil war. From 1936 to 1939, Spain fought a three-year civil war.
Before the Civil War, Spain was a newly formed republic. They just overthrew the monarchy.
The authority over Spain rotates between the old and the new. Until one side decides to completely drive the other side out of the stage of history.
Inho Blanco was on the side of the ruling party and the one who was later defeated. They were hunted by the side that rebelled, and the side that later won.
That's the reason, so when Inio's son grew up, he asked his elderly father, what exactly did you do to hide in the wall. Inio couldn't even talk about it.
Inho and his wife repeatedly mentioned one name in their conversation, Franco.
He was the famous Francisco Franco, the leader of the party that hunted down Inho. After that, he won the Spanish Civil War and ruled Spain for more than three decades.
In Inio's eyes, Franco was a murderous demon, but in his wife's eyes, he was not as gentle as a leader, and his wife admitted that Franco's uncoordinated head-to-body ratio was even a little cute.
Spain outside the wall is just so subtle.
Franco has always been Inio's fear, the source of his woes. Inho believed that, unless Franco stepped down, he would never be free. However, Franco's position as head of state is for life.
After the Civil War, World War II broke out.
Early in the war, Franco did not want Spain to be involved in the war. Spain, which had just emerged from the civil war, was extremely weak, and the country was still not at peace.
What's more, when Spain remains neutral, both sides are scrambling to send benefits in case Spain goes to the other side.
Later, Franco waded in the muddy water. Followed Germany to attack the Soviet Union.
Inho finally had hope. He was looking forward to the victory of the Allies. Franco, who helped the Axis countries to let go of the gun, was bound to be dismounted by the victorious countries.
Ironically, what happened to the wife, this time happened to the leader of a Western country.
The Allies had won, and Ineo waited to celebrate in the sun with his son in the cradle.
But wait, wait, wait until the son grows up to the point where he can't hold it anymore. What Inho waited for was not the liquidation of Franco by the victorious countries, but the official entry of Spain into the United Nations.
Later, it was the cordial meeting between Franco and US President Eisenhower on the radio.
The wife asked Inho, did these people not know what Franco did in Spain?
Inho can only shrug and answer, anyway, now Spain has joined the United Nations. Franco knew in his heart, how could they not know, they just chose to forget.

Franco on TV went from a dictatorial rebel general to a simple, sincere, frank and honest old politician.
The whole of Spain is forgetting, but Inio can't forget the roar of Death holding his rifle and chasing him, and the crisp sound of warheads bursting on the wall beside him.
Inio knew that if he stepped out into the sun, an execution awaited him, not even a trial.
Ineo was right, the hunting never stopped.
The world outside the wall is changing, and inside the wall, Inio's heart also begins to change.
Once upon a time, he still had the courage to imitate "The Shawshank Redemption", digging a secret passage from the secret room to the woods. Now, he doesn't even have the courage to open his own door.
Once, a neighbor tried to prevent Inio from escaping, but he was knocked to the ground with a slap. Now the same neighbor came to the house, but Inio was like a mouse that met a cat, fled in panic against the wall, holding his head in his own hole and shivering.
The son looked down on him and laughed at him for avoiding unwarranted persecution. The wife also agreed with the son's words.
Now Inio, even if he, like his son, believes that it is safe outside, he still has no ability to take half a step out of the gate.
In 1969, on the thirtieth anniversary of the end of the Spanish Civil War, the Spanish cabinet announced that all war-related crimes before April 1, 1939, would be pardoned on April 1, 1969.
Thirty years is nothing, and Inio has been hiding in the Chamber of Secrets for three more years than the anniversary of the end of the Civil War. Unless another anniversary of the outbreak of the civil war is set, it will be able to compete with Inio's "sentence".
Hiding in the secret room for thirty-three years, what will people become?

Remember Inio's Neighbors? Preventing Inio from escaping, he was knocked to the ground, buzzing around the window of Inio's house like a fly for the past 30 years, making a crackling sound from time to time against the glass.
He searched for any gap, sneaked into the privacy of the owner of the house, and sniffed any odor particles that confirmed the existence of Inio.
What exactly is deep hatred, hatred is often the reason is not important, the important thing is the hatred itself.
It is conceivable that in life, no one has an enemy, and no one has ever said or heard such a sentence. If murder is not illegal, kill him first.
However, it's just talk, because killing people to pay for their lives is only natural.
However, in Spain after that early morning in 1936, it was really illegal for this neighbor to kill Inho.
Two old men, after 30 years, one cannot forget that there is a neighbor who must be hunted, and the other has never forgotten the fear of being hunted.
Even the murderous head of state Franco is preparing the ground for forgetting this cannibalism among compatriots.
In order to give an old man like Inio a chance to bask in the sun, and to give Spain a chance to transition from a dictatorship to a democratic country.
