Although when it comes to crime films these days, many people think of South Korea. After all, masterpieces such as "Memories of Murder", "The Yellow Sea", and "The Furnace", in addition to the gimmicks of crime, always have a heavy social reality.

But in faraway Europe, another country's crime films can often blind everyone in the two aspects of brain circuit clarity and reversal.

Savage Tales in 2014.

The Invisible Guest in 2016.

and "End of the Tunnel" in 2019.

These Spanish crime films, through the continuous introduction and commercial screening of these Spanish crime films in the past few years, have made many domestic audiences begin to have a great interest in the brains of the Spaniards. Some time ago, a Spanish crime film called "The Hunger Platform" once again caused a heated discussion among everyone.

This article contains spoilers.

At the beginning of the film, the male protagonist Glenn wakes up from his sleep, and he is opposite an old man named Tremagus. Judging from the layout of the room and the conversation between the two, they were in prison.

However, this is obviously not an ordinary prison, but like a straight high-rise building. There are a total of 333 cells. There is a rectangular pit in the center of each floor. This pit runs through the entire floor and looks very magical.

However, only two people are held in each cell. Some of them were imprisoned here for crimes, like old man Tremags.

Some people come in voluntarily, such as the male protagonist Glenn. He was still here by applying, in order to stay for six months in exchange for a certificate.

As for the role of this pit, it is to deliver meals.

Every day, the prison staff will send a table of sumptuous delicacies from the workshop on the 0th floor, starting from the first floor, and gradually convey it down through the pit. Meals on the table can be enjoyed.

Cruelly, because it is passed down layer by layer, the more people at the top, the more things they can enjoy. For example, on the dining table of the people on the first floor, it is a big meal where no one has touched the chopsticks. But starting from the second floor, it is the leftovers of the upper-class people. In this way, the lower-class people are, the less food they can eat. Usually at about 100 floors, there is not much food left.

Therefore, for the lower class, they must either endure starvation, or kill another person in the same cell, eat human flesh, and continue their lives.

To keep the prison fluid, all inmates will only stay on their respective floors for one month. After the expiration of the period, they will be anesthetized and coma by the management, and will be randomly moved to other cells, which will ensure that everyone can be promoted to heaven or go to hell.

In addition, the film has the following provisions:

1. Food can only be enjoyed when the dining table is stopped and cannot be taken away for storage. Once the food is left on this floor, the room temperature will either rise or drop rapidly.

2. Everyone can bring one thing with them before going to prison. In the film, Glenn brings the novel Don Quixote, and Tremagus brings a sharp knife.

3. Everyone can descend to the next cell by moving the table. Although the prisoners can descend to the bottom in this way, and then instantly rise to the 0th floor to try to escape, they will inevitably run the huge risk of being killed and eaten by the lower class.

Judging from the above settings, "The Hunger Platform" is like an indoor survival experiment. What will the male protagonist Glenn experience when he spends a few months in such a prison? Naturally become the focus of most audiences.

From the fact that Glenn took a novel and entered such a cruel prison, it is not difficult to see that he is a gentleman. This is also destined that he is not like other criminals, who can only enjoy gluttonous feasts, or kill others in order to survive.

Tremagus, the first cellmate he meets in prison, is a stark contrast to him. Because Tremags stayed here for a long time, he lived in the tragic purgatory below 100 floors and enjoyed the rich paradise above 10 floors. So in front of Glenn, he showed a sophisticated and ruthless insight into the vicissitudes of life. If you have something to eat, you can enjoy it to the fullest. You can even spit at the next layer, throw a bottle of wine, and even if you see a corpse that fell from above, you can keep your face and heart beating.

Glenn didn't accept Tremags' cynicism at first, but he didn't have much determination to complain or change because they were in the 48th floor of a rather affluent prison. His personality only began to change when he and Tremags moved into the 171st floor the following month.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he was tied up with five flowers, and then was gracefully announced by Tremagus that he would cut some meat from him every week to beat his teeth, and Glenn's mentality completely collapsed. Although he was saved from the knife by the Asian woman Miharu and survived, he has come to his senses and knows what kind of world this is.

Afterwards, whether it was on the 33rd floor, when he met Imoguri, the manager, and watched the innocence of this insider, or on the 6th floor, when he saw the black Baharat being played and murdered by the upper floor, Glenn finally let go of all civilization. The shackles of violence and intimidation against this immutable prison system.

But in the final analysis, whether the male protagonist Glenn lives or dies is not the core of the film "The Hunger Platform". He is more like a pair of eyes, leading us to examine this highly meaningful "straight-tube prison", the civilization and Barbarism, the conflict between humanity and anti-humanity, morality and religion, are the reasons why everyone is fascinated by it.

Obviously, this movie did not think too much in a reasonable dimension. Its overall setting is more like the horror movie "Fucking Party" + the sci-fi movie "Snowpiercer", and itself, more of a social fable movie.

The 333-story prison in the film actually refers to the rich and the poor in human society. According to Du Fu's opinion, the wine and meat of the Zhumen are stinky, and the road is frozen to death.

From the perspective of the prison management, the prisoners ordered the dishes themselves, and as long as they eat their own portion, no one will go hungry.

However, fair and rational behavior does not arise out of thin air. Given the differences in prisoners' moral level, cognitive behavior, and information received, the so-called "managing one's own mouth" is an empty phrase.

The appearance of the male protagonist Glenn symbolizes rebellion, which can be seen from the "Don Quixote" novel he brought.

This is the Spanish novelist Cervantes, created in the early 17th century, a long anti-cavalier novel. The passage of Don Quixote's "Handing a Spear and a Windmill" has become a classic. In "The Hunger Platform", Don Quixote is transformed into the male protagonist Glenn, and the servant Sancho is transformed into the black Baharat. In the film, the two hold weapons and confront the prisoners layer by layer, which is a reinterpretation of "The Great War Windmill" .

Although in the first half of the film, the film strives to exaggerate the differences and injustices between the upper and lower classes, but with Glenn's rapid changes between the lower and upper classes, the film reveals the real theme: how the prisoners who are tired of food, how Escape from prison administrators' captivity?

The symbolism of the film is full of meaning.

For example, the straight-tube prison that represents the manager is actually the windmill that Don Quixote faces.

In the opinion of some netizens, the number "333" on the 333rd floor in the film actually has some religious significance. Since there are two people in each cell, this prison holds a total of 666 prisoners. In the Book of Revelation, it is recorded that the number of people is 666. Including the "Messiah" (a person chosen by God and with special powers) that is constantly mentioned in the film, makes the film have a broader meaning.

At the end of "The Hunger Platform", there seems to be a suspense left, whether the little girl who symbolizes hope will be seen by the administrators, so that the prisoners have human nature and release all prisoners.

But if you think about it, it doesn't seem to be true, because the managers never think they are in captivity, but are cooking every dish with extreme delicacy, so that the prisoners can eat happily and live a great life.
