I'm a movie noob. To write a review of this movie based on my knowledge and experience, to be honest. . . Too bad. This is just my impression after watching the movie. I was just writing a short review, and it was more than 150 words before I knew it. Then I jumped here, so I'll just finish it here.
Is a five hour fifteen minute movie long? At the beginning, I was resistant to movies with more than three hours, because I had not seen them. But when you watch "Once Upon a Time in America", "The Irishman", "Ben-Hur", "Guling Street Teenage Murder" and so on. . . After watching it, I will like the director's cut version and the extended version of the movie more.
But when I get in touch, I will find a movie. It is a very wonderful feeling to see late night from evening and dawn from late night.
And what makes this long work different from ordinary movies is that the background constructed is more realistic, and the characters created are more realistic, so it will be more moving.
For example, if the protagonist does (experiences) event A, we can feel what kind of image (A) the protagonist is from this event, and then the protagonist does event B, we may find that it is a little different from image (A), then the protagonist is Image (AB), and then event C, it will be Image (ABC) again. When the image of a character is (ABCDEFGHIKLMN.....), then he is really a lifelike person.
The director can tell the childhood emotions of Oshimao and Alfred in ten minutes and twenty minutes, so why does it take so long to tell them slowly? It is to insert details, and it is meaningful details, life trivia, character relationships. In this way, the cornerstone of a good relationship will be laid and pave the way for the future.
In most movies, the characters are generally upright people. The whole film is upright, and the evil people are always evil. This kind of modeling only needs a simple space, but it often fails to move people's hearts.
Of course, there are also many excellent works, which are done.
But if you can comment on epics, I think most of them will not be short.
