short comment

There is a commentary that mentions "Rosemary's Baby". This film - let's not say whether it is related or not - firstly has a big difference from "Luo". Although the story of "Luo" is absurd, all the characters seem to be real. And "Mother! "All the characters are like puppets, completely controlled by the director from God's perspective. I think this is the biggest failure of the film, because it only allows the audience to see the director's narcissism (and possibly resent it), but not resonate.

In fact, although I agree that it is too full, I actually like the idea, structure, and plot of this film. To be honest, it reminds me more of Horror Cruises than Rosemary's Baby.

The heroine "mother" can never get out of her room, because she doesn't exist anymore. Or rather, she never existed; she was just a tool in his pursuit of perfectionism. And his definition of perfectionism is absolute obedience. In other words, this film actually has a very traditional core, and all the exaggerated symbols point to a description and irony of autocracy. From another angle, it is because this core is neither very deep nor very special, so you spend so many gimmicks to describe him, you will be considered too ambitious, or even childish. Viewers have this experience because they have seen many attempts, but have not found an equal weight of connotation to support all attempts.

Overall, I don't personally dislike this movie because I like the way it's done in a whimsical way. But the film does have many shortcomings.
