Staying at home recently, I specially found some disaster films about diseases to watch——
"Influenza", "Iron Nematode Invasion", "Infectious Diseases"
Although they are all works of art, they are actually a conjecture and interpretation of the entire social state after a sudden and serious infectious disease spreads and spreads in a certain region or even globally.
Many plots may have seemed incredible before, but today, they feel that they are close at hand.
for example:
1. Panic will spread faster than the virus, this is the consensus of all governments. Therefore, no government will announce the epidemic when indicators such as infectivity/lethality/susceptible population/transmission route are not yet clear.
2. Even if the government releases all the information once it has the above indicators, panic and riots will inevitably occur as long as the contagiousness and lethality reach a certain level of severity, and at the same time there is no cure. People's panic essentially comes from the fear of death and nothing else, but because there is nowhere to vent their sense of powerlessness, most people will blame the government for its poor performance and opaque information.
3. There will always be people who eat "human blood steamed buns" in order to take advantage of the fire. This stage is characterized by conspiracy theories and rumors. Because there is no antidote and vaccine, people will become gullible because of panic, and believe in all kinds of unscientifically proven remedies and absurd conspiracy theories. The panic will intensify and the government loses credibility, even though all known data on the disease has long been released. But key antidote and vaccine issues remain unresolved. So many people will instinctively believe in those remedies and "saviors" that can give them hope.
4. If the epidemic is still not under control, coupled with the help of fear, the whole society will fall into "anarchy". Viruses will eat away at the human body, and fear will destroy the civilization of society. People no longer sympathize with the weak, but become the strong prey; people no longer trust and cooperate with each other, but become suspicious and defensive.
5. There are always some people who never give up the spirit of science and the conscience of mankind. Most importantly, they never gave up hope and effort. Therefore, at the end of the story, antidote and vaccine are always found miraculously, saving all mankind.
Most of the viruses in reality have no "antidote". However, human beings can still solve all the epidemics so far by means of modern medicine and isolation. But remember, whether in stories or in reality, it is always those who are immune enough to make it to the end.
