it must be heaven

It is often said that foreign works cannot be resonated with different values, but when I look back, I find that there are also works that lack deep emotional resonance in the subcultural circle. Those logics are often monotonous or full of the main theme: I believe that people are kind, hard work will be rewarded, unity can progress, etc. . . . In addition to being moved, it is truly mind-boggling. However, it must be heaven has given a new starting point for thinking: instead of guiding the audience to resonate, it is better to let the audience express themselves.

For me personally, the director has answered the doubts about human nature in this film, and this starting point is something I admire. "You don't have to be the Lord to know the Lord," was what I thought was a timely quote before the movie.

There are no lines or violent shocking scenes in the whole movie, just like a sense of calm when a person looks back on the past and finds that many violent things are just like this. The redundant words are stripped away, and the blank space allows the protagonist to withdraw from the first perspective, leaving the answers and thoughts to the viewers to fill. This kind of bold blank makes me feel that many things are "silence is better than sound", and I have experienced so much in my life. The thing, in retrospect, was so absurd and nonsensical, but in fact it was nothing more than that.

Tired of people's absurd words and stereotyped tricks, boring and repetitive behaviors from their hometown and decided to leave. Walking to the so-called world metropolis, passing through Paris and encountering amateur musicians playing a toneless tone and claiming that this is the capital of art and culture, rock youths doing grotesque and empty behaviors on the subway, empty and impetuous behaviors, The Paris police were "trained" like a circus doing a process check; they went to New York in disappointment, and found that everyone seemed to be carrying a gun on their backs and ready to shoot anyone who approached. The NYPD was like a cha-cha dance. Three steps forward and three steps back, staring at his so-called free citizens. It's not hard to see that, even if you say that this place is exceptional, people all over the world are actually doing the same thing.

The only thing that can liberate people is to be independent. I've been to so many places and seen so many colors. In the end, it is better to stop in one place and leave a paradise for yourself.

Different from regular commercial films, this film is more like a work of art, which invites people to think and summarize. If there is no independent consciousness and only hope to get the food that comes, how can you understand the meaning of it?

  • Professor: First... Welcome to New York, It's good to have you here at our school. I will start by asking you to share with us your experience as a filmmaker and to speak about the ways of being and feeling that have or have not permitted you to achieve... the conditions of becoming what we call a citizen of the world. Is you sense, your identity... of place a thing of the past? Has your nomadic existence extinguished your love of one place? And extended it to a love of all places? In other words are you a perfect stranger?
