Synopsis
Jimmy (Sean Penn), Dave (Tim Robbins), and Sean (Kevin Bacon) were very good playmates in childhood and often played together.
But when they were 10 years old, Dave was taken into the car by a villain who was pretending to be a bad guy when the three of them were playing. He fled back a few days later and his personality changed drastically. Because of this incident, the three of them also drifted away.
When he grew up, Sean, who had a sense of justice, became a policeman as he wished.
Dave got home, took his son to and from school every day, talked about baseball, and his life was bland and happy.
Jimmy was jailed for two years for a robbery. After his wife died, he was left with his daughter Katie. After that, he converted to justice because of Katie, remarried his wife and had children many years later, opened a convenience store and led a normal life. .
What they didn't expect was Katie's death that caused the three to be connected again many years later.
The 19-year-old Katie was shot in the early morning. The body was found in the grass by the river. Sean was assigned to investigate the case. Dave had a relationship with Katie before her death.
Jimmy was distraught with his daughter's death, he immediately mobilized his social relationship to investigate the cause of Katie's death, hoping to find the murderer and kill him before the police.

Dave claimed that he had encountered a robber who had injured him while fighting with him and he was also injured, but Celest did not find any news about the injured robber after checking the newspaper.

During the investigation, Sean also discovered Dave's suspicion. He found that there were blood stains in Dave's car that did not belong to him, so the police took Dave to the police station for questioning.
However, Dave said that he had no knowledge of the blood stains, and it might be someone else's.
Soon, the news that Dave was taken to the police station reached Jimmy's ears, and Jimmy also began to suspect that Dave was the murderer of Katie.
At this time, Celeste found Jimmy, she couldn't stand the suffering, and told Jimmy about her suspicion of her husband...
Film Analysis
"Mystic River" is the work of the famous director Eastwood. This is the most depressing and sadistic one I have ever seen in his works. The viewing process is very uncomfortable and desperate. I think it is not inferior. In "The Hunt".
The film's narrative is stable, and the plot is promoted from the characterization of the characters. The overall style is as mysterious and weird as the name of the movie, with a slow rhythm. It relies on the accumulation of the characters' emotions as a foreshadowing to reach a climax.
The character creation is a highlight in the film. The director used a lot of psychological activities to enrich the character of each character, especially Dave's wife. She was entangled, doubted, and frightened until she finally said "yes" to Jimmy. At the time, I believe that many viewers can’t help but curse the last sentence, but there is no if in this world, everyone has to pay for what they do. At the end of the parade, the Dai husband and wife are in sharp contrast with others. She was remorseful and lonely, and her husband who was supposed to be with her was abandoned by her, but she could not get any mercy and could only bear the pain caused by her regret.
Good movies are often inseparable from excellent actors, and all the actors in the film have dedicated themselves to above-standard performances.
When I watched it for the first time, I was deeply attracted by Sean Penn. The Jimmy he portrayed has strong emotions, outstanding personality, and very personal charm. He interprets his love for his daughter vividly and vividly. I also use it in the film. His wonderful performance won the Oscar actor.
But in the second brush, I think Tim Robbins is the better one. I was moved by his calm performance. Every time he appeared and every expression touched my heart, this It feels beyond words, but it just makes me cry to death. The best actor Oscar deserves its name. It is strongly recommended that viewers who like this movie watch it twice, because the feelings of the two times will be completely different.
Are you faithful? Is it possible to blame everything on the arrangement of fate?
I have seen a comment that Ray Harris has nothing to do with the main line of the film. I don't think so. The theme of the film is that character determines fate, and fate leads to the formation of character, an infinite loop, which is like this for everyone. This is fatalism.
Ray Harris was killed by Jimmy after betraying his accomplices. Although Jimmy sent money to his family every month, this did not eliminate the damage caused to his family by this incident. In the end, the father and the debtor were repaid. The death of Jimmy's daughter told us , This is retribution, there is such a magical power in the dark, it will inadvertently give you the most painful blow, the director is telling us, do not owe God, it will come back to collect debts at any time.
Selected lines
Bad people are bad people because they can always find some reasons to forgive their mistakes, they can always find excuses, and quickly recover from self-blame and guilt. They lack the most important qualities that I think as human beings should have. :good.
