Happy people are good people.
jerry and tom are good people, but they can't empathize with mary and ronnie's pain.
Jerry is kind and gentle. As a psychiatrist, she is good at taking care of other people's emotions, but she doesn't stop at superficial care. After the woman who was depressed and insomniac at the beginning left, I saw helplessness the moment she closed the door. She has seen too many such helpless and hopeless people. People, she must be sober, standing around their deep quagmire, in a spectator way, without feeling the feeling of falling into the abyss step by step.
The same goes for Mary. She would comfort Mary, invite her to dinner, make her a cup of tea, and sympathize with her situation. She can't be picky about what she does, (if I meet Mary, I will definitely go far), but there is a slight discomfort. She doesn't like Mary's neuroticism and sensitivity, and hates Mary's "show of love" to joe. The tone taught Mary to be independent and strong. Who wants to live like that shit? ! Mary is a sensitive and painful idiot, and no one really wants to listen carefully to this idiot's life and mood.
Without criticizing the Jerry family, they have done a good job, caring about the friends around them, and not treating them with indifference when they need help.
But I couldn't be moved by them, only that fool Mary moved me.
I laugh at her, despise her, listen to her
Sorrow for her, cry for her
