Mechanic Watching Notes

1. Plot: compact but as expected, the way to solve the target is different and interesting

2. Character modeling: The male protagonist is set to be indifferent and ruthless, but because he fails to show his emotional entanglement and weakness, it weakens the sense of resonance with the audience. The second male did not act according to the male lead's plan, which was in line with his rebellious psychology. But for the second male lead, he suddenly becomes almost as strong as the male lead. Although there are montages and dog raising, the foreshadowing and transition are insufficient. delta: You can show the second man's determination to avenge his father by looking at the light of his father's photo, get up early, stay up late, exercise and practice martial arts, etc., so as to strengthen the emotional connection with the audience.

3. Editing: The one-night stand and the male two beat the strong man were additionally deleted from the Tencent video, and the editing was a bit jumpy. At the end, first cut in chronological order, and then flashback, indicating that the male protagonist is not dead, which is interesting. Although the quick cuts in the fighting scenes in the bus can create a sense of tension, sometimes the action cannot be seen clearly, or the shots that actually hit people are not visible, which weakens the power of the martial arts scene.

4. Photography: At the beginning, hold the camera + quick cut to set up tone, the swimming pool scene looks good in yellow and blue. The view of the city highway is nice.

The Mechanic quotes

  • [first lines]

Arthur Bishop: What I do requires a certain mindset. I do assignments; designated targets. Some jobs need to look like accidents. Others must cast suspicion on someone else. A select few need to send a clear message. Pulling a trigger is easy. The best jobs are the ones nobody even knows you were there.

  • Harry McKenna: You're a goddamn machine. You see things. You view people differently than I do, differently than anybody does. But you have a problem, Arthur. You need companionship.

Arthur Bishop: I have you Harry.

Harry McKenna: Oh, then you're in deeper shit than I thought.
