SUNSHINE tells a rather formulaic catastrophe story where a group of astronauts sacrifice themselves to save all humanity. This time their mission was to launch a giant bomb to reignite the sun. On the way, due to an oversight, a wrong guess, and an unexpected passenger, there were many twists and turns.
You can usually expect such a disaster film, explosion + hero + coward + villain + high technology + drama first + life and death.... SUNSHINE has enough of the above elements. DANNY added his signature "darkness of human nature" element to this film, so that this disaster film more often interrogates human nature, when people are faced with choices, and their reactions when faced with life and death.
