I feel like a typical horror movie. It seems that the "three-dimensional world" is his success, which makes people feel a little obscure. A surface world, an inner world, and a normal world. It seems that since the car arrives at Silent Hill, even if it enters the so-called surface world, that foggy world full of ruins. Then chase SHARON into the alley, the inner world erodes and walks down the stairs for the first time, SIREN sounds, and then it gets darker and darker. After using the lighter, I find that I am already in the inner world. Lots of ferocious monsters, the world after the alarm goes off in the movie. As for the normal world, which is the world where ROSE's husband lives, the performance in the movie is orange, in contrast to the gray of the outer world and the black of the inner world.
To be honest, I don't really understand this so-called "three-dimensional world". As a science student in the new century (this is really lost B), I have made a little bit of understanding of the parallel world out of curiosity, in order to better understand this film. According to the theory of parallel worlds, if this "three-dimensional world" is regarded as three parallel worlds, I think some things make me feel suspicious. The first is time. The time of the parallel world should be different. Although the day and night of the watch world and the inner world are handled differently, the strange thing is the time that passed when Rose was looking for SHARON in the watch world of Silent Hill. The father in the normal world also went through the same time to find the mother and daughter. Also, why when Rose is fighting in the inner world, her husband can feel her perfume. This is really puzzling, but from the perspective of the film, the director's arrangement is nothing more than adding romance and adding another example of the so-called heart-to-heart. As for the most direct performance of the parallel world, it should be at the end of the film. ROSE's husband was lying on the sofa but could not see ROSE enter the house, and ROSE brought SHARON (or ALESSA) into the empty home. But what I doubt most is the phone call Rose made before going home. If Rose didn't walk out of the world when she came out of the church, why can the phone call to her husband? Can parallel worlds connect with each other? I don't think the film makes it very clear, but if you think that Rose's husband didn't hear the phone at all and just picked up the phone out of a feeling, I think the same explanation as the previous perfume should work too, just have a heart. But the only thing that is clear is that Rose's husband did not hear her sentence: "WE BACK HOME". The plot is so true, I just feel that some details are vaguely explained.
Also, I haven't played the game, so I have doubts about the character of CYBIL. First, why should she help ROSE at all costs? Just because they are both from the normal world? Or is it out of police responsibility or curiosity about the land of Silent Hill? However, CYBIL's straightforward and tough, shooting and melee scenes still left a deep impression on me. The scene of her final death is also very heroic, the close-up of being burned to death is quite tragic, the only thing that is unclear is that she died in that world. Because she burned to death in the church, but later ALESSA RISED IN THE CHURCH, it is not clear whether she died in that world.
Then there is the male policeman who came to Silent Hill with Rose's husband to find her. He seems to have a special feeling for Silent Hill. After all, this town was a normal town before 1974, at least it looked normal. Some people think that this male policeman is ALESSA's father. I don't think it makes any sense. It's just inexplicably linked to some tasks that appear in the movie. The movie does not explain the origin of ALESSA. There are different opinions about her origin. I believe that she was adopted like SHARON, so ALESSA has no father.
As for why ALESSA is a witch, I'm not very clear. It should have something to do with religious belief. In the West, witches are generally considered to be a group of people with special abilities. It may be some abnormal behavior of ALESSA that makes people think so. But I think in this film, ALESSA, ALESSA's mother, and SHARON, may be witches. Another point that doesn't make sense is that if ALESSA was adopted, how did SHARON come about? I more believe that SHARON was created by ALESSA, just as ALESSA created its own dark side to create SHARON. But since SHARON can't be considered a witch, because ALESSA's dark side is just a tool of ALESSA's use, her status is very humble. This can be seen in the scene of ALESSA RISING IN THE CHURCH, because she climbed up. In this way, SHARON is just a tool for ALESSA. However, tools also have feelings. Needless to say, the relationship between Rose and SHARON is natural. I can see feelings in SHARON's eyes from the dark side of ALESSA. It is probably envy. Everyone envies that SHARON has such a great mother, so ALESSA finally chose to replace SHARON. In this way, the theme of the film is reflected - mother's love. Of course, some are willing to say that the theme is revenge. I don't think so, but I prefer sublime themes.
That's all, it's purely personal opinion, don't take offense if it's wrong. If you are interested in horror movies, this movie is not to be missed.
In addition, the music is still very good, another day I will find out where "PROMISE" actually appears in that scene.
