The opening poem recitation: Send each other off in the mountains, and cover the firewood doors at dusk. The spring grass is green every year, will the world jade return? Couldn't hold back the tears. The music of "Only Mother Is Good in the World" sounded, and the heartstrings were tickled, but there were no tears. At this time, I felt that although I didn't admit it, "Fang Shiyu II" has always been my favorite martial arts film.
Every time I talk about my favorite martial arts films, I often mention three: "Evil in the East", "The Swordsman in Shuangqi Town", and "New Dragon Inn". Two of the three films are literary films, and the remaining one is also a milestone in martial arts films. And all three are Westerns. I didn't mention "Fang Shiyu II", I always thought it was a commercial film, it was rather rough, and its status in the history of movies was not very conspicuous. It was still a sequel, and the sequel was not very good. Apparently covering this up. But I gradually felt that, at least in my subconscious, its position was above the top three, because it was so beautiful.
Yuankui Yuande's martial arts design is better than Yuan Heping and Cheng Xiaodong's, and it is absolutely hearty, at least that's how I see it. Lu Guanting's music, translated into "Only Mother Is Good in the World", is really beautiful. Li Pingbin's photography is also a must, especially when it comes to shooting fights, which is extremely surprising. Although the performances of Jet Li, Xiao Fangfang, Zheng Shaoqiu and Ji Chunhua are not deep, they are not twists and turns like the whole story, but they are exquisite. The screenwriter Liu Zhenwei has a very clear structure, and it is clean and neat, without redundant writing. It is an excellent commercial script. "Fang Shiyu II" is a comprehensive commercial martial arts film. Of course, I like it more because it was one of the first Hong Kong movies I watched, and it was impressive, like first love.
