Beyond the inner prison

Re-watching this film, the feeling is completely different.

Many things that happened in life flashed back in my mind.

Time is a carving knife, not only carving the wrinkles on the forehead, but also carving the fragile heart.

The following are my thoughts when watching the film:

1. Morality cannot restrain people's behavior. Harm is two-way, and if you feel unloved, the other person is the same. You cannot guarantee that the other party will not cheat because of lack of love.

2. People first need to adapt to life, and then study hard to improve their abilities, so that they can change their lives.

3. Everyone needs friends. Please choose your friends carefully.

4. Using the right tools can help you achieve your goals.

5. Mutual benefit is acceptable without sinning against God.

6. Opportunities are fleeting, and you can take risks if you have certainty. Please consider carefully and organize your language.

7. In any human society, knowledge is valuable. Good teachers are hard to find, and good books are easy to get.

8. Get to know your friend and give him/her a surprise.

9. Don't trap yourself in the inner prison. Get ready to escape from prison at all times! Busy to live, not busy to die.

The Shawshank Redemption quotes

  • Warden Samuel Norton: [as Mozart music is playing on the phonograph, the Warden comes to bang on the door] Open the door. Open it up! Dufresne, open this door! Turn that off!

[Andy acts like he is going to do as he says]

Warden Samuel Norton: I am warning you Dufresne, TURN THAT OFF!

[Andy turns up the volume instead, so Hadley comes to the door]

    Captain Hadley: Dufresne...

[taps on the door with the club]

Captain Hadley: ... come on down.

[Andy does nothing, so Hadley smashes the screen on the door, unlocks it, and comes in the room]

Red: [narrating] Andy got two weeks in the hole for that little stunt.

Captain Hadley: [turns off the phonograph] On your feet.

  • Red: [Narrating] There must be a con like me in every prison in America. I'm the guy who can get if for you; cigarettes, a bag of reefer, if that's your thing, a bottle of brandy to celebrate your kid's high school graduation, damn near anything within reason. Yes sir, I'm a regular Sears and Roebuck.
