opening.
theme.
The Spanish title of the movie {Love is a Bitch} - Amores Perros, direct, clear. The two words "love" and "dog", the former is the subject and the latter is the mapping, alludes to the fate relationship between the character and the dog. From a certain point of view, they are actually the same.
Director Inari uses skillful editing, moving images and lively music to explain three different stories like we are unconventional, revealing the diversity and complexity of love, which is as turbulent as the fate of these protagonists.
Dogs, love, loneliness, money, escape, boredom.
Octavius, falling in love with his brother's wife, wants to run away with her to another city and start a new life. To save money, he put on his dog, flew high, and walked into an unknown world. In this world, money is bait, dogs are tools, and love is desire.
Danny, father of two daughters, fell in love with supermodel Valyria, separated from his wife, bought an apartment for Valyria and started their lives. In their world, learning how to find a way out. In this world, loneliness is the fuse, the dog is the clue, and love is the incompleteness.
Martin, picks up trash, keeps stray dogs, kills. After being separated from his daughter for more than 20 years, he wanted to tell his daughter that he was his real father. There is very little love in this story, and family love dominates. In this world, escape is boredom, dogs are darkness, and family affection is the purpose.
child.
first story. The children of Octavius' brother; the children of the owner of the dog ring; all live in a deformed family. Also, if you look closely, Octavius and Susannah (his sister-in-law) are actually just high school students.
Second story. Danny's two daughters, the betrayal of love made them lose their essential fatherly love.
The third story. Martin doesn't know how to get into her daughter's life. When he finally had the courage to tell his daughter the truth, he knew it was too late.
surroundings.
Octavius belongs to the typical Mexican civilian class. The environment he was in was full of violence, blood, and ignorance and selfishness. His dog, Goofy, is a clue to the environment.
Danny, rich and powerful, lives in a luxury apartment with his star mistress, Valeria. A hole is broken in the floor of the apartment, and in an accident, Richie, Valyria's dog, falls into it. In fact, this also implies that the lives of Danny and Valyria have also fallen into the abyss, and even if they take action, it will not help. Black holes are clues to this environment.
Martin, with trash and stray dogs. There is a scene in the film where he takes his dogs out of the house with garbage and junk all around him. It means his life is a mess, everything is disorganized, and so is his relationship with her daughter.
detail.
Octavie's older brother is rude and selfish by nature, but when he is at work (he is a supermarket salesperson), he has to deliberately hide himself and show a fake smile.
Valeria lost her right leg in an accident. Back at the home, she opened the window, and her ad was being taken down from the building opposite. For a split second, everything she had lost was revealed in tears.
Martin saves Octavia's dog in an accident (but he doesn't), contrasting with Martin's hatred of the world, preferring to save a dog than his own. a world of human beings.
The dog in each story has the same fate as the protagonist, which is the most outstanding feature of the film.
intersection.
Of course, another outstanding feature of the film is that the characters in these three stories, at a certain moment, all cross a spark. The film presents us with their intersection in a time-disrupted way. If you look closely, you can feel the beauty of this.
director.
Inarido is a good storyteller, and he also values the shocking effect produced by the combination of music and video. In his films, he can often see stories of different backgrounds and unrelated people intertwined. It doesn't matter, in fact, they both met at some point in time. Personally, I am very impressed with the way this film is expressed. Although all three of his works are in this style (like "21 Grams" and "Tower of Babel"), I don't think there is any aesthetic fatigue, on the contrary, this type of narrative style fascinates me. In fact, we live in this world, and many things that happen around us will also happen in the world of others. After all, life has something in common.
(I'm sloppy, the film review written before the age of 17 is really mentally retarded, and I don't understand anything... 08.6.1)
