During the time I was drawing on the film, I avoided going to the cinema, trying to reduce some of the disappointment, and only made up for the lesson when the DVD was released. Because like most viewers who have read the original, I am afraid there is a sense of unsatisfactory not reaching the climax. I'm not particularly addicted to Lola's fast running, my personal opinion is that it is a bit overstylised, pretentious and impetuous with young people.
To be honest, the perfume film is not bad, it is done skillfully, and it also uses visual effects to express the invisible and intangible protagonist-smell. It is worth mentioning that British actor Ben Wilshaw, who plays the male lead Grenouille, is a wonderful cast. This inconspicuous little thing with tenacious vitality is stubborn and fragile, complacent and inferior, crazy and simple-minded, and his hateful, pathetic, and pitiful characters ignite on the film. In addition, Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman are also heavyweight actors. It can be said that they have reached the level with due diligence, but compared with Ben Wilshaw, it seems a bit old-fashioned. My feeling is that even though the film is basically done smoothly and well enough, the mid-range, the tones, the flowery meadows, or the filthy Parisian quarters are a little predictable. To make an inaccurate analogy, the beautiful one seems to be a Stock image. Inspired by the original imagination and the space it brings, you hope to see more experimental approaches. Or learn from Kubiric's cleverness, it is better to leave a blank if it is not as amazing as the text. When I was reading the book, I felt that there is a more human side to the human body as the representative of the supreme smell. It is true that smell is a very sexy and subtle substance, but the film focuses on the sultry side, which is somewhat thin and mediocre. Audiences who have not read the book will find the ending surprising and outstanding, but in terms of plot, the film is basically based on the original book, and the original book provides an outstanding story. Compared with the text, the ending scene is a lot less imposing.
In a word, a good student has no dangerous works,
