I think it's just a list of phenomena.
Multiple parallel narratives, the chaos of time, these are all pretentious.
Essentially the director didn't tell a good story.
It's all the same old stuff - youth rebellion, communication barriers, family values, etc., nothing new.
What we see is a collage of a well-made pseudo-documentary.
The director is said to be a former journalist, which partially reveals what we've seen.
Without the desire and talent for storytelling, it's like watching a National Geographic Channel humanitarian special.
