Little Damon's Million Dream

Allow me to start this review with this naive title, but in Danny Bowie's year-long absence, I've boiled down his new film to a dream!

Starting with a room of thrillers, if this is Danny's last film, it's rather coherent. It's an idealized fairy tale after all - the child's mind is filled with the great deeds and miracles of the saints, and when he gets the chance, he uses his windfall to help all he thinks worthy of help the "poor". From time to time, he is controlled by his own subconscious, and he is used to communicating with the saints in his subconscious, and for those things that are regarded as maverick by others, he is working harder to realize his little dream. Compared to his slightly selfish brother, he looks like a real "child" that has been lost for a long time. From the opposition and conflict between people to the trust and mutual assistance between people, in this reincarnation, Danny realized the road of self-examination.

The film's skills are still so outstanding, the elegant shots, so the street intersection under the moonlight, the child holding the toy donkey is so cute; the skillful editing, so even when the deleted scene of more than 30 minutes appeared, I didn't feel the original. The plot is abrupt. After watching a lot of Bowie's movies, I feel that he is a guy who uses the language of the camera more than the lines themselves.

There is also a child who plays Damon, just an ignorant child picked out of the Manchester school. He has an ordinary appearance and freckles. He is probably in grades 1-2 of primary school, but his performance is excellent. Whenever the camera stops on his face, his expression always reflects Damon's mood at that time - eager to be recognized, afraid of being abandoned, hesitant to help others...etc. It can be said that the choice of actors did help the movie's depth.

In the end, the Damon family (including Dad's new son) actually flew to Uganda in Damon's little paper house, and Damon said he wanted the story to end like this. They saw that Damon's donation helped the local poor to open wells and use water. There is a steady stream of clear groundwater, isn't Damon's little million dream very beautiful?
