I’ve read the original book, I’ve always wanted to watch this movie, and I finally finished watching it yesterday. Although many scenes in the original book were not shown, especially the Cardinal didn’t appear, it’s a pity that this film can be completely remade with the current special effects, but the international background has changed. Too much realism. Luckily actors like Sean Conneria and Rick Baldwin made up for the lack of special effects, and of course the original storyline was fantastic!

The movie sets the United States and the Soviet Union in the same way. Those with advanced consciousness are excluded. However, after all, they are praising the United States and the Black Soviet Union, and the depth of reflection is limited. The US official is willing to take risks and give the warriors a chance. The prejudiced conclusion of success or failure based on the status quo of the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the dominance of the United States, or whether it is precisely because of the essential difference that the two superpowers have gone to very different ends, will be unclear for a while, but it is certain that they have never met. The fact that the political enemies of the political enemies are connected in the stormy sea is very romantic in itself.

The Hunt for Red October quotes

  • Jack Ryan: Well, Sir, I was just thinking that perhaps there's another possibility we might consider. Ramius might be trying to defect.

  • Jack Ryan: Well... Ramius trained most of their Officer Corps, which would put him in a position to select men willing to help him. And he's not Russian. He's Lithuanian by birth, raised by his paternal grandfather, a fisherman. He has no children, no ties to leave behind. And today is the first anniversary of his wife's death.

General: Oh, come on. You're just an analyst, what can you possibly know what goes on in his mind?

Jack Ryan: I know Ramius, General. He's nearly a legend in the submarine community.
