Although the opening chapter makes up for the regret that the previous vehicle chase was not exciting enough,
But other than that, the movie viewing experience that this game brought me is not as good as that of Genesis.
Here is a brief list of some of the things that made me uncomfortable:
1. Restart.
This is the second reboot of the series after Terminator 2.
This caused the series to become loose and incoherent, not taking advantage of the series of films.
To make matters worse, it gives the feeling of watching the previous movie in vain.
2. Procrastination of the narrative.
The rest of the series does a good job of balancing the plot composition of combat and non-combat parts.
The rhythm is lively, the narrative is smooth, and it is not easy to get bored.
So I didn't expect this problem to occur in this game.
Whether it is from the end of the chase at the beginning to the arrest of the protagonist and his party after crossing the border,
Or the part where the transaction at the military base was interrupted after escaping from prison,
These two long and unglamorous non-combat sections are boring and even exhausting.
3, stereotyped lines.
This feeling is very subjective.
I can't say exactly what's wrong with it.
But the lines of this work make me feel very unnatural,
Makes me feel like I have a strong sense of estrangement from the characters in the film.
4. Lack of fate.
No matter what time the Terminator arrives,
Whether their purpose is to kill or protect,
Skynet is doomed to destroy the world,
John Connor was destined to be the savior,
The two kill each other and live each other,
The future of mankind is like the highway in the dark night in the last shot of "Terminator 2",
along the established track,
to the endless unknown.
I really like this sense of fatalism created in the first four works.
And whether it is "Genesis" or this work,
failed to inherit this,
It takes away the seriousness and heaviness of the story.
5. Failed villain portrayal.
REV09 is actually a character who will negotiate with the enemy before the decisive battle.
There is no sense of chilling of the Terminator who was responsible for the assassination mission in the previous work,
When such an icy killing machine is made into a character who negotiates terms with his prey,
It's hard for the audience to feel nervous.
That's about it.
This is really the Terminator that makes me feel the worst viewing experience.
And, if nothing else,
The next movie should be rebooting again.
This is really not what I hope to see in this series.
I can accept The Terminator without Schwarzenegger,
But I'm not willing to accept "Terminator" that can't shake my heart.
