Although it was applauded and crowded, I personally think it's normal

There are not many good Indian films in the first half of this year, so many fans are pinning their hopes on the second half of the blockbuster release. "The Slumdog Class" starring Hrithik Roshan is one of the most anticipated works.

There are two reasons to look forward to it.

First, Roshan is a heavyweight Indian star who has starred in the "Indian Superman" series. In the first half of this year, one of his films - "Omnipotent" was also released in China. We have reason to believe that by Roshan's work is worth looking forward to.

Second, the film is adapted from a real person, telling the story of an Indian teacher named Anand who provided free education to 30 poor students and successfully helped them get admitted to the famous Indian Institute of Technology. Indian films have always been good at realistic themes, so everyone is confident that this work can also perform well.

The film was released in India on July 12 this year, with a net box office of 1.4 billion rupees (the data may not be accurate, but one thing is certain, the box office is a big sell), and it also scored a high score of 8.2 on IMDb, which can be said to be applauded. Called again.

But after watching it personally, I feel that the film is very average, and it can even be said to be relatively disappointed.

The protagonist Anand is very talented in mathematics, but because of his poor family, he lost the opportunity to study abroad, which made him feel sympathy for those poor students who dropped out of school, and deeply felt the unfair distribution of educational resources under the commercialization of education. So he gave up his high-paying position in the cram school and recruited 30 poor students to provide them with free education.

This story obviously contains realistic topics that can be explored in depth about class and education, but this piece of content, just shouted a few slogans, passed by like a glimpse, very superficial.

The most unfortunate thing is that when poor students and rich students were in PK, after they were defeated due to innate inferiority, their mental journey was not well displayed - the differences in class were carved into their bones, the rich Relying on the aura to defeat the poor, just like in the Korean movie "Burning", Lee Jong-soo is always humble in front of the rich second generation, and even the creative inspiration needs the latter's inspiration for himself. What kind of despair is this? Therefore, the poor students must have such an unforgettable and ardent process to overcome this hurdle, but in the film, they actually passed a public performance and easily sang and danced across the shadow cast by the class in their hearts. This is so much chicken soup.

Afterwards, there was very little content for the poor students to study hard, as if they were admitted to the Indian Institute of Technology after studying casually. As a result, the story was not only lacking in depth, but even the most basic inspirational spirit was lost.

In the end, the content of the poor students using the knowledge that Anand usually teaches to fight against the local bureaucratic bullies with guns and ammunition is close to magic.

Some might say that this is based on real events, but that's the truth! What I want to say is that the facts are also multi-faceted. When adapting, shouldn't we choose the best angle to interpret it? Behind Mr. Anand's story is a profound social reality. It should not be presented like this. It's a bit of a joke.

After discarding the heaviness of reality, the theme of "The Slumdog Class" is actually Anand's personal heroism, and the overall weight is relatively light. But even this did not do well. The relationship between him and his girlfriend was so scribbled that I even felt that it was not a pity that Anand gave up this relationship for poor students. The film focuses more on bragging about Anand's personal abilities, such as when he went to restaurants. , use math to tell the boss that he's going out of business. All these have greatly weakened Anand's sense of nobility. The film seems to forget that Teacher Anand is praised because of his selfless dedication, not because he is very good at hanging up.

At the same time, the script of the film is also very poor. Every time I don’t know how to express it, I use the music MV to fool it. Especially, the key part of the class is actually mixed with the MV, which is too rough. Therefore, after watching this movie, you will find that the story is very vivid without even showing the basic teacher-student relationship.

The whole story is a hodgepodge of everything, but it's very hollow, and it's probably the most disappointing Indian movie of the year. If "Mr. Hiccup" scored 100 points, "The No. 1 Scholar in the Slums" could only get 60 points, of which 59 points were given to Roshan.
