This year can be said to be a big year for horror movies/dramas. The newly released "We", "The Curse of the Crying Woman" and "A Midsummer Night's Fright" are full of brain holes and controversies. The sequel series "Happy Death Day 2", "Joker's Return 2", and "Annabelle 3" have mediocre performances, but they also have their own highlights. Friends who like horror themes, can't they all watch it? Unexpectedly, there is a new horror drama with a good reputation recently-
ghost show
Creepshow Directors: David Bruckner, John Harrison, Gregory Nicktlow, Tom Savini, Rob Schrab, Roxanne Benjamin Screenwriters: Joe R. Lansdale, Paul Dee Nee / Stephen King Starring: Karen Strassman / Adriana Barbio Premiere: 2019-09-26 (US)
This is a 6-episode miniseries produced by American AMC Television. In each episode of more than 40 minutes, two different stories are told, which can be described as short and concise. It can be said to be very suitable for people who like to watch horror stories but don't like to chase dramas.
In terms of narrative, the play uses a combination of comics and real people . Part of the plot is advanced and connected by turning pages of comic books, making it more vivid and interesting.
In terms of content, it covers urban legends, science fiction, supernatural and other types. Speaking of this, I have to mention the original movie IP "Creepshow" of the show. The film version of Creepshow was written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero . The former is the famous "Master of Horror", and the latter is the "Father of Zombie Movies" who has inspired countless filmmakers. Under the strong combination, this film has given a strange and curious imagination, and it has also become the childhood shadow of many American audiences in the 1980s.
After the release of the first "Creepshow", this series has launched two sequel films and spin-off comics, both of which have gained a good reputation. And this new play, which has recently aired, also clearly intends to pay tribute to the original. Not only the painting style and shape are quite retro, but also a bit like watching cult films in the 1980s. In terms of narration, it also continues the sub-chapter structure of the original film, and tells the strange stories of different styles.
Without further ado, let's talk about the two most exciting stories in the first two episodes.
*The following contains spoilers, please watch carefully*
1. Skull Haunted House
The heroine is a little girl named Eve who lives with her parents and a family of three. Coincidentally, her parents bought a toy house for Eve, and there were three toy people in it. Eve couldn't put it down, and often came to play and talk with the villain.
One day, Eve came home from school as usual. When she came to the toy room, she was surprised to find that there was a terrifying human head inside. What's more terrifying is that there is blood on it.
Not only that, the family of three who were originally in the dollhouse also moved their positions. They were all panicked and frightened, as if they were somehow frightened.
Eve was puzzled, but she didn't tell her parents about it. She didn't know what to do with the head either, so she left it in the dollhouse. At the urging of her mother, Eve and her family go out to the movies.
When I got home at night, Eve came to the dollhouse for the first time. This time, there was another change in this spooky cabin - the toy parents went from the bedroom to the stairs, and the toy children hid and peeked at the home. Without exception, the three of them behaved very cautiously.
And the most terrifying head of horror stood upright on the bed in a bedroom. Eve was starting to get scared, and she realized that things were getting worse.
In order to "save" the toyman family, Eve came up with a way - she came to the place where toys were sold, bought a toy policeman and put him in the dollhouse. Because she believes that the police representing the force of justice will definitely be able to eliminate the ghosts in the house.
After waiting for a while, Eve came to the dollhouse again to observe. At this time, the three members of the Toy Man family were standing in front of the stairs and turned their attention to the upstairs. And in the attic, the toy policeman is patrolling the situation above with their guns up.
Eve was a little relieved, she firmly believed that the police would be able to save the Toy Man family. Is this really the case? No. When Eve diverted her attention and talked to her father for a few minutes, another big change happened in the dollhouse - the toy policeman fell in a pool of blood and his head disappeared for no reason. The toyman family of three looked at all this in horror. But the terrifying head was hiding in the mirror in the bathroom of the dollhouse.
Eve was startled again, but she still didn't give up. This time, she came to a place that sold toys and wanted to buy a toy priest to exorcise evil spirits. Sadly, there are no such villains for sale in toy stores. At the boss's recommendation, Eve bought another replacement - an Indian made of a toy.
Eve confidently put the Indians back into the dollhouse. This time, can she get her wish? the answer is negative. Not only did the heads of the toy Indians disappear mysteriously, but even the toy family of three could not escape bad luck.
Facing the tragic situation in front of her, Eve was frightened and called out. In extreme fear, she finally mustered the courage to take out the terrifying head from the dollhouse and threw it to the ground. Unexpectedly, after this human head left the dollhouse, it turned out to be the same size as a normal human head. So, Eve could only pick up the head again, stuff it back into the dollhouse, and shut it up.
At the end of the story, Eve finally made up her mind to throw away this once most beloved doll house. As soon as the camera turned, the dollhouse was given to a stranger. When she opened the cabin, she didn't find anything unusual. Did that spooky head hide itself? Or go with the Eve family? These questions are left to each audience's imagination.
2. Fingers
The male protagonist Clark is a divorced man who is in debt. His greatest hobby is to go to the roadside to pick up things that others have thrown or lost.
One day, Clark picked up a strange finger. As usual, he brought this new thing home with him.
One day, when Clark was drinking, he accidentally knocked over the glass and spilled the wine on his finger. Then, something strange happened - the finger seemed to have magic power, not only absorbed the wine, but also became alive from shriveled.
Instead of being frightened, Clark felt like he had found a treasure. It put the finger in the refrigerator to protect it, and soon the finger grew new fingers. Clark shook hands with it, and it even responded amicably.
As the finger grows larger, it quickly grows into a full arm. A few days later, the arm turned into a full-blown monster. Despite his aggressive looks, Clark kept him as a pet, named him Bob, and even chatted with him.
The arrival of Bob made Clark's boring life a little more fun. However, he is still a loser through and through: abandoned by his wife, disliked by his son and daughter, and constantly collected by debt companies. Bob hated them from the bottom of his heart, but he was powerless in the face of the tragic reality.
One day, the police suddenly visited. They told Clark that his ex-wife had died tragically and in a tragic condition. Because Clark and his wife have always been at odds, the police suspect that Clark is suspected of committing the crime and came to investigate specially. However, Clark had not seen his wife for many years, and the police had to give up.
But does Clark really have nothing to do with this at all? it's not true. When he entered Bob's room, he suddenly found that there was a human heart here.
Seeing this, Clark suddenly understood everything - it turns out that Bob is a very human creature. He knew that he hated his ex-wife, so he helped himself "revenge" and killed his ex-wife very cruelly.
Since then, Bob has been completely reduced to Clark's killing machine. From ex-wife's children, to debt collectors, and even the person who had a roadside spat with Clark. Without exception, they all died at the hands of Bob.
Everyone who Clark disliked died unexpectedly and tragically. When he indulged in this complacent state, there was a sudden reversal - at the end of the story, Clark appeared in prison in prison uniform.
While telling the story of Bob to those around him, he vigorously denied that he was the murderer. Does this so-called "Bob" really exist? Is Clark the murderer? These questions are left to the audience to answer.
Up to now, "Ghost Show" has aired a total of 2 episodes. Although these stories are of different levels, they are all short and concise, and the ending is unexpected. And the kind of retro horror it creates has awakened the psychological shadow of people watching "Creepshow" back then. If you are interested in brain hole stories, these weird and curious plots in the play will definitely attract you. If you are someone who likes horror themes, this show is even more worth watching.
