Corresponding to the era of the "Sun King" Louis XIV, China also had a Kangxi emperor who was called "the emperor through the ages" by later historians. The two emperors had a lot in common - they spared no effort to strengthen the centralization of power: Louis preached that "I am the country", Kangxi did not say much, and the TV series were often played.
It is just a novelist's whimsy that just a few retired guards and a "Iron Mask of the Bastille" who is still a historical mystery can overthrow the power center of a highly centralized empire. Louis XIV's was never merciful, and his subordinates didn't have so much power and capital to operate.
From this point of view, the film has too many flaws, such as the boldness of the musketeers and the weakness and surly of the emperor.
