Thoughts change life

Today is my second time watching this movie

When I first watched it, I was only fifteen years old. At that time, the number of films read was small, so I didn't see the meaning of this film. I just think Andy is so awesome! Then there is no more

Today I re-read the classics, which really gained a lot of knowledge. Andy’s kind of spirit is really awesome, even if you are in jail, even if you are sentenced to life imprisonment, you can’t lose hope in life.

I think this is more or less related to Andy's background. He used to be a banker, showing that he has a good education and three views are right. Thought is important. It is the hope for life. The power of dreams has allowed Andy to carve a channel of salvation on the wall for twenty years.

And relying on his knowledge of finances, the warden took a fancy to him in the jail, and he was able to get the money from the warden and escape to Mexico. They also provided the evidence to the newspaper, and the police dealt with the warden and the chief of security in a single shot to prevent future troubles. Visible the importance of knowledge

At the end of the film, the dialogue between Andy and Rhett is too classic. When Andy said that he wanted to open a hotel on the Pacific coast of Mexico and dream of living this life. It can be said that Rhett is dumbfounded, how is this possible? A person who has been sentenced to life imprisonment is daydreaming when he says these words!

This is the gap, the gap in ideas, the gap in value. It is the gap between the people of the world, that’s why there will be successful and unsuccessful people, the poor and the rich, and the story described in this world.

It is not terrible to be trapped by a high wall, because some people cannot be trapped. Birds with full feathers will always belong to the sky and cannot be shut down. But if the mind is trapped by a high wall, people will also be trapped in it

The Shawshank Redemption quotes

  • [after Brooks held a knife to Heywood's throat]

Andy Dufresne: I just don't understand what happened in there.

Heywood: Old man's crazy as a rat in a tin shithouse, is what.

Red: Oh Heywood, that's enough out of you!

Ernie: I heard he had you shittin' in your pants!

    Heywood: Fuck you!

Red: Would you knock it off? Brooks ain't no bug. He's just... just institutionalized.

    Heywood: Institutionalized, my ass.

Red: The man's been in here fifty years, Heywood. Fifty years! This is all he knows. In here, he's an important man. He's an educated man. Outside, he's nothin'! Just a used up con with arthritis in both hands.

  • Red: [narrating, referring to the warden committing suicide] I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the best of him.
