chance and necessity

Women are always doormats in FILM NOIR. Or more precisely woes and steps. It's often a woman that women hate when they see it.
At the end, Nick's mother takes him out of Nick's car, showing indifference to Nick who is dying in the car. She said that others were tough guys, but she was actually the toughest. However, at the end, the chilling feeling makes the movie very dark. What does it mean to be at your fingertips? This kind of idle writing probably reflects the skill of the movie. Not to mention the director Dassin's, that's because it's not only the director's talent but also the ubiquitous coincidences that make the film. Inevitability + chance can make a good movie. In fact, why not have a good life? No, there is a problem with this sentence, what is a good life? Did it develop according to your own wishes? They have to deal with accidents, and they may even lose their original intentions in life. Or suppose that there are a few persistent anomalies who always maintain a clear understanding of their own route, but what kind of happiness can one have other than the fluke after success with uncompromising persistence? Or, it's just my pessimism.

Rififi quotes

  • Jo le Suedois: [walking down a street] "Ferrugia," pricey custom-made boots for the missus.

Tony le Stéphanois: Is opens when?

Jo le Suedois: Late. "Tecla," cultured pearls, costume junk. Opens at 10:00. Florist. Salesgirl has the biggest boobs in town.

  • Viviane: [singing] I got a guy who knows what's what, He ain't the kind to bust a gut, He's got lotsa philosophy, Only he's too sweet on "rififi," If another guy just gives me a nod, Right away he goes for his rod, He tips his hat and yes, sirree! It's time for some "rififi," I step in, but he don't give a damn, He points me out and says: scram! And when he's back after a while, He's got this nasty little smile, And sure as sure can be, I'm next in line for "rififi"...
