Back in 2000, Nicholas Tse at that time was still a new star after his debut for a few years. Musically, he has become one of the four great kings in Hong Kong. In terms of movies, he has also grown rapidly. He has starred in "Young and Dangerous Boys: Young Fight" and "Half Cigarette". With these two films, he won the Best New Actor Award at the Golden Horse Awards and was nominated for the Golden Horse Award for Best Actor. prize.
And this year, Nicholas Tse met Tsui Hark who returned from Hollywood. Tsui Hark, who was looking for a breakthrough, produced "Downstream and Countercurrent", which incorporated Tsui Hark's new martial arts into an urban action movie, and at the same time added a Hollywood style, making this film unique.
When I saw the starring role of this film, there was actually Wu Bai's name on it. My previous impression of Wu Bai has always been the king of the music scene. "Ronin Love Song", "World No. 1", "Norwegian Forest" and "Sudden Self" are all his very classic songs. I didn't expect him to have a movie with the leading role. And after watching it, I found that his performance is quite good, the role is in place, naturally not artificial, and the interpretation of a agile retired mercenary is extremely wonderful.
A Zheng (Nicholas Tse), who originally worked in a bar, yearned for life in the Gulf of South America.
Single is the most satisfying life, one person is full, the whole family is not hungry, there is no pressure to support the family, and there are no emotional twists and turns. This will be Azheng's downstream moment.
Until I met Azu (Xu Ziqi) in a bar, Xu Ziqi in reality later married into a wealthy family and became the daughter-in-law of Hong Kong's richest man Lee Shau Kee.
Azu is gay and a policeman. After quarreling with his girlfriend, he was in a bad mood, so he drank wildly with Azheng.
The night of drunkenness, of course, has a story.
When Azu woke up the next day, he found a strange man lying beside him, which was a shame for a girl, or a lace girl.
After discovering that Azu was a police officer, Azheng was so frightened that he quickly put on his shorts, which was very interesting.
Coincidentally, this day happened to be Azu's Dangerous Day.
So nine months later, the two met in the supermarket, and Azu was already a pregnant woman with a big belly.
The pregnant Azu gave Azheng a sense of responsibility.
In order to earn more money, he quit his bar job and joined Uncle Ji (Huang Qiusheng)'s bodyguard company.
This will be his countercurrent moment.
He was bullied by his teammates and didn't give out a real gun, so he could only make a toy gun; he made mistakes at work and was accused by Uncle Ji; the money he earned was stuffed into Azu's room, but it was bitten by the dog, which also caused Azu's disgust.
When Azheng was buying a toy gun, he met Ajie (Wu Bai) who was buying a music box.
Ajie, originally a mercenary in South America, later retired to live in Hong Kong and worked as a worker in a meat factory.
And his wife, Xiaohui (Lu Qiaoyin), was the daughter of a wealthy businessman. The wealthy businessman looked down on the incompetent Ajie, and Xiaohui had a falling out with her father and ran away from home.
At this moment, Applejack has a wife who loves him. At the same time, his wife is pregnant, and his life is comfortable. This is his downstream moment.
Because of buying a music box, Azheng met Ajie for the first time.
Here is a small clip. Ah Zhengshun walked away from the store owner's lighter. I feel that this scene is quite interesting.
For people who smoke, lighters will be passed by friends, and they will pass friends' lighters. But generally the friends who will smooth each other's lighters are friends to a certain extent. So this small gesture has actually enhanced the friendship between friends.
At the birthday party of Ajie's father-in-law, Ajie met Azheng again.
A Zheng is the bodyguard of the birthday party, and there is a killer at the birthday party. Fortunately, Ajie helped guide him, and Azheng prevented the assassination.
After the birthday party, Azheng drove Ajie and Xiaohui in the car, and the three happily sang songs in the car.
Nicholas Tse at that meeting was really happy.
But soon, Applejack's countercurrent moment also came.
The mercenary organization came to Hong Kong to pursue his past grievances and grievances.
It was a group of killers who killed without blinking an eye. At the same time, Xiaohui threatened Ajie to kill his father-in-law.
Out of desperation, Applejack picked up the gun.
The mercenary organization disguised as a businessman came to Hong Kong to cooperate with Ajie's father-in-law, and Ajie's first shot hit a leader of the mercenary organization, killing him with one shot.
In this film, Ajie's skill is very good, one person singled out the mercenary organization like no one else.
In this scene, there is a quick change of clothes and disguise, as well as the jumping and moving of the rope in the high-rise building, which is very Hollywood rhythm.
Applejack alone caused the mercenaries to mess up, and at the same time took their box of money.
Murder is gone, a thousand miles is not popular.
This action of Ajie happened to be that Azheng was a bodyguard for the mercenary, and Ajie's mercy in the two fights put Azheng in trouble.
He was detained by the police and suspected by Uncle Ji.
But Azheng's downstream moment has come.
Azu, who has been ignoring him, came to bail him out, and the relationship between the two began to become better.
The action scenes in this film are quite good.
Then, the mercenary organization stopped him at the place rented by Ajie, and Ajie and Azheng teamed up to get rid of each other's siege.
Applejack leaves money for his wife at the station and wants to leave without causing her trouble.
But the mercenary organization will not let them go.
At the station, there was another fierce battle between the two sides.
Ajie instructed his wife Xiaohui and Azheng to escape and came to the concert scene, but the mercenary organization decided to bloody the concert.
At a time of crisis, Xiaohui wants to have another child, and Azheng is forced to deliver the baby.
After that, Ajie and Azheng successfully solved the mercenary organization, and the child was born smoothly.
At the end of the story, both Ajie and Azheng return to their downstream moments.
Ajie was not taken away by the police, and Azheng welcomed his child and stood happily with Azu.
Because of the jumping nature of the editing, some people are a little uncomfortable watching this film. Moreover, the director wanted to express a lot of things, which caused the audience to be a little confused. But in terms of production and plot, this film is indeed a good film. The lively action scenes, the music specially produced by Wu Bai for the film, and the seemingly light but strong brotherhood between Ajie and Azheng are all great highlights.
Friends who like it can have a look.
