"Instinct" is a thriller about sexual perversions. Director Van Howven seemed drawn to its terrifying plot ending, which leaves brutal, vicious perverts at large while sympathetic characters get slaughtered one after the other. Various types of mental disorders are covered in the film, including: alcoholism, tobacco abuse, cocaine abuse, voyeurism, homosexuality, bisexuality, transvestites, suicide, personality disorders, violent assault, sadism and masochism Crazy wait. The characters in the film are living in the shadow of homosexuality or other strange sexual perversions. The director uses his lens to interpret American society as a society obsessed with death, a society of vampires sucking nourishment from the blood of innocents
