Letting go of something you had is hard enough.
It's even harder to finally come to the cruel realization that you never really had anything. All the memories and emotions you are still clinging onto are just a one-man show of your own delusion.
Through and through, Woody is trying to replicate what he had with Andy and project that love onto this new girl. But Bonnie probably never loved Woody, not the way Andy loved him anyways. Woody is just one of the toys that got handed over to her. He is someone else's memory. That's why Bonnie cares so deeply about Forky, because that is the first toy that's truly of her own.
Woody did so much for Bonnie though, like any of us would who are desperately in love or feel responsible for someone. He even gave away his voice box for Bonnie, voluntarily. He lost a piece of himself that will never be recovered. And Bonnie ? She did not even notice Woody was gone in the end.
Woody is each and every one of us, who just would not let go, who would not let go of the fact that he or she is just not that into you. Before you gave more pieces of your heart away, please, please take a good look at yourself.
When you finally meet someone who cares for and loves you full-heartedly, you will no longer be the best of you, the full version of youself. Because you have burnt yourself so much, and you have given away pieces of your heart way too soon, to the wrong people. That's probably the most tragic thing of them all.
