If you don't say it, how can you express it - "The Female Teacher"
Today I introduce a Czech/Slovak film "The Female Teacher".
The title of the film is Učiteľka / Ucitelka / The Teacher (2016), alias Teacher has a problem (Taiwan) / Teacher Wu Duodian (Hong Kong).
This is a movie that the audience will be angry with, and everyone will have more or less experience with the characters in the film, whether they have vested interests or those who lose their interests. No matter what position you are in, the act of infringing on the interests of others for your own selfish desires, and even the act of attacking underage children, is disgusting.
The story of Female Teacher takes place in Czechoslovakia in 1983. Ten years later, Czechoslovakia was divided into two countries, and the story in the film may have paved the way for the country's unfortunate fate.
A new female teacher named Damari joined the suburban elementary school. Damari is nearly fifty years old and serves as the party chairman. According to her own words, her husband died early, and she has a sister far away in Moscow, Russia, who usually lives alone.
The first thing she did as a class teacher was to call her a name, and she was familiar with everyone. The general roll call is to call a name, and the person who is called stands up and makes an appearance. Damari's roll call took some finesse. The named classmates not only need to stand up, but also need to report their parents' occupations.
Damari used a small notebook to record in detail the occupations of each student's parents.
For those who work as hairdressers at home, Damari will go to sit and let the parents of the students practice their hands with their own hair; for those who work at the airport, Damari asks them to help with an air express; for those who work in the pharmacy, Damari Just come and get some rare medicines to eat; if there is no skill, Damari asks them to come to the house to clean the house, and line up to buy things in the early morning.
Anyway, all the classmates in the class were arranged by Damari to be "appropriate", and each family made the best use of everything. Damari is good at discovering the "value" of each person, and for the students who provide value, she will also give them academically. Take full care, or reveal a test question, or take care of the test. Everyone "helps" each other and gets what they need, creating a harmonious and beautiful scene.
Not all parents are willing to provide "help", such as the aforementioned "air express".
There is a little girl in Damali's class named Danka. Danka's father works for an airline, but he is only an accountant and has no direct contact with the flight business. Making him illegally carry out air express delivery is tantamount to smuggling. Danka's father couldn't find a way and had no choice but to make a request to Damari, asking her not to let him do these things.
Damari readily agreed, and deliberately targeted Danka in the subsequent teaching activities. Damari deliberately taught Danka to learn to nitpick, and "changed" Danka's grades to the bottom of the class. At the same time, he also attacked Danka verbally, sneering and sarcastic completely disregarding the facts, and making Danka unable to step down in front of the whole class.
These school bullies come from the head teacher, even under the right banner. This is a fatal blow for a little girl. Danka could not see the warmth of human nature and hope for the future. One afternoon, she turned on the gas and prepared to commit suicide. Fortunately, Danka's mother found out in time and rushed to the hospital for rescue, saving a life.
When Danka's parents learned about the situation, they were very indignant. The school principal decided to hold a parent-teacher conference to discuss coping strategies, and wanted the parents of the students to jointly protest in order to fire Damari.
Damari was notified of the parent-teacher meeting, but she refused to attend the meeting.
At the parent meeting, parents were divided into two opinions.
On the one hand are the parents of the students who hold various resources, and they are considered middle class. Some of them are public officials and some are doctors. They generally believe that it is normal for them to "help each other" with the head teacher, and there is no problem.
The other side is the parents of the students who have no resources available, they are people at the bottom of the society, they don't have so many things worthy of Damari's use, and their children are bullied by Damari for various reasons.
"Female Teacher" switches back and forth between the teaching scene and the parent meeting scene through frequent editing, so that the audience can feel the truth of the incident. The whole parent-teacher meeting was like the trial scene of "Twelve Angry Men", full of ups and downs, full of twists and turns and bitterness. Perhaps just one or two weak and firm voices are the key to the transformation of the whole tragedy.
Near the end of the film, the story finally took a turn for the better. At the parent-teacher meeting, almost all the parents "supported" Damari one-sidedly, and when the parent-teacher meeting ended, the parents signed the petition book one-sidedly.
On the surface, everyone supports Damali, but they know each other well, and they all know that Damali is a cancer, and they want to get rid of it quickly.
The reversal of this scene in "The Female Teacher" is full of magical realism, and in fact everyone has experienced this kind of situation, and there is nothing more magical than this. There were prosecutors and doctors in a group of people. They shouted on the stage to punish corruption and cure diseases and save people, but they ran faster than anyone else in the audience. On the bright side, everyone firmly supported Damari, and they hated her in their hearts.
Things didn't end there when Damari was fired.
The last scene of the film is unexpected, just like a foreshadowing at the end of a horror film, the evil is endless.
Wearing a familiar floral dress and familiar high-heeled shoes, Damari reappeared in another school and another classroom, repeating the same thing, calling out the students of the new class...
After being expelled, Damari not only did not lose her teaching qualifications, but she could continue to do evil just by changing schools. Perhaps it is the operation of some students' parents, or it may be the resources accumulated by her personal identity. In short, there are various relationships behind Damali. In the film, the principal repeatedly emphasizes Damari's political identity. Because of her identity, even the principal is quite afraid of him.
On the contrary, Damari can act recklessly. There are a lot of things that we all know well, that we cannot say or say. It is really amazing that the parents of a class and the principal of a school can be unspeakable, unspeakable, unwilling to say, unable to say, need not say, and dare not say.
The appearance of a person like Damari is definitely an insult to the teaching profession.
Taoli has formed its own way without saying anything. The most basic thing to be a teacher is to teach knowledge. Kalmarie's teaching performance is the worst in the school. Damari did not do any of her own work, but put most of it on the drilling camp. She has no professionalism at all.
Don't ask to be a teacher, at least not to be a teacher.
I don't ask you to be the strict teacher Fletcher in "The Bursting Drummer", nor do I ask you to be the kind teacher Clement in "Spring in the Cattle Class", I only ask that the Damaris can do their most basic duties . Han Yu's "Speaking of Teachers" mentioned that: Teachers, preaching and receiving karma and dispelling doubts. At the very least, it is necessary to impart knowledge, otherwise it will not delay the children for a lifetime.
On the other hand, there are always a few worms in the teaching staff. Even without this "Damari", there will be other "Damari".
Most of the time, it's the people that are the bad, not the profession itself. No matter which job such a "bad person" goes to, it may be the misfortune of that job. Most practitioners are conscientious, but a few extremists have become typical. The ethos of the purification industry applies to all walks of life. Never underestimate the harm of black sheep, there are too many examples of a mouse spoiling a pot of soup.
In addition, bad systems always spawn bad people, Damari is like a microcosm, and the country that created Damari will not exist ten years later.
Don't say it, can't say it, don't have to say it, dare not say it, don't say it.
What to say, what to say, where to say, when to say, and how to say it.
