I have watched all five of the current "Death is Coming" series, and come back to write a review of the first one.
I have to say that the first is a very good horror film. Reaper thoroughly enjoyed his game. (SPOILER ALERT) (hope I didn't mix up how to die) There's a lot of coincidence in the bathroom that's incredibly subtle and mysterious, and the mystery of this "god" runs through it all; when I'm still When I was immersed in the collapse of the characters because of their inevitable death, the sudden car accident really caught me off guard; in the end, the protagonist escaped and left a glimmer of hope that people will prevail. Compared with the later ones, the first one doesn't make a mistake that horror movies often make: replacing horror with disgusting pictures. Although there were many people who died, everyone's way of dying was special enough, and they did not directly use flesh and blood to simply and rudely achieve not necessarily a good horror effect. And apart from the instinctive fear of these methods of death, the fact that fate cannot escape is also mentally stressful. Mystery, fright, death, pain, fate, all kinds of terrifying elements. The first one is worth four stars.
I originally liked this god of death who didn't show up. I imagined that he should be a high-IQ, elegant and morbid god. He enjoys the job of taking people's lives, but his every move sends a message: He only kills the damned. It's like the lives of the protagonists in the book of life and death have come to an end, and the male protagonist's sudden awakening of the supernatural power of prophecy that should not exist saved them, but the book of life and death did not change because of this, black and white impermanence had to come to claim their lives in person. And the naughty grim reaper made the process a little more interesting. I don't think he's cruel, he's just doing his thing, even though he might be that cruel God. Moreover, the almost fixed order of death and the failure of someone to commit suicide in reverse order in a later part fully proves that the god of death only acts according to the rules. However, there were several explosions and earthquakes in the back, killing a bunch of innocent people inexplicably, so I didn't like him at all. Like an elegant and handsome vampire who became hysterical in front of the scent of blood, showing his fangs and blue veins, showing no beauty. This reminds me of another series I originally liked, "The Chainsaw". Jigsaw only makes people who don't cherish life pay the price, but he did make people kidnap the doctor's innocent wife and daughter, which violated his own principles. Both he and Reaper were just enjoying a dirty but fun game of murder, and they had to find some high-sounding and untenable reasons. Jigsaw is just a dying old man, and the god of death is so hypocritical and even dishonest.
