When I watched it, I swallowed many times. There are really too many handsome guys. I can't help but the music is very good. Even if you are not familiar with Elton John's music, you will easily be infected through this film. Eggy's performance is outstanding, and her singing is definitely comparable to Elton himself. However, the whole movie couldn't bring me the enthusiasm for watching #Bohemian Rhapsody last year . First, it was because I was not very familiar with Elton's works, and many of them were lyrical songs, which were not so exciting. Second, the story was too familiar. . If you watched last year's Bohemia and #astarborn# it's basically the same story over and over again just with different music and more handsome guys.
However, unlike the previous two films, this film can be said to be a veritable musical. Many dialogues are displayed by singing, and not only the protagonist Elton John sings, but all the characters can sing; while last year's two films were plots The film, only on stage to perform songs. This film is not strictly a biography. It just uses Elton's songs to show some of his moods and situations in the first half of his life, and through dazzling choreography, scene design and costumes, Elton's life is like a kaleidoscope of fantasy.
Before talking about the balls, I have to talk about Richard Madden ! ! Although he played a supporting role, he brought a suffocating aura every time he appeared! Really aggressive, people can see that the legs are soft and the suit is worn to a new height. Every shot is the rush of a magazine blockbuster. Why hasn't anyone asked him to play 007? This is simply the best choice! Although the other leading actors also performed well before his appearance, it is not an exaggeration to say that he is the most stealing star in this film.
Jamie Bell and Charlie Rowe are also outrageously beautiful in the film. Long hair, bangs, flared trousers and floral shirts, although they are a bit mother-in-law, the existence of these handsome men really makes this film very eye-catching.
But also because of this, such a high-value supporting cast has somewhat stole Taron Egerton 's limelight, making it difficult to focus on him. Unlike Bohemian Freddie Mercury who absolutely takes center stage with his charisma, Taron Egerton 's Elton seems to have to rely on bright, out-of-the-box outfits to grab attention. While he's well-acted and mimicked in his manner and appearance, what the character has gone through is all too familiar and lacks the contagiousness that Rami brought last year.
My favorite part of the song and I knew the name of the song as soon as I heard it was "Bennie And The Jets", because it appeared in the romantic comedy "27 Dresses". "Your Song" and "Saturday Night's Alright" are also impressive, and many of the other songs are unnamed or unheard, probably because I'm more familiar with some of his older songs. This film mainly shows his early works.
A lot of people have focused on the gay part before, although the R-rating of this film can allow the film to be more open and truly reflect the life of a rock star, but in fact everything shown is still well understood by people, nothing more than Alcohol, drugs, a rotten life, a childhood without love, and success are often lonely, depressed, and insecure. Many are clichés. And that same-sex sex scene doesn't actually have much connotation in it, it's just a display of passion and desire, buried in the film's exaggerated bubble. Most people's impression of this passage may end up with only Madden's lustful eyes.
I 'm still optimistic about Taron Egerton's sprint for the awards season, but I don't think this film surpasses other similar movies, but it's definitely eye-catching, and it should be the most crisp pair of CPs this summer.
