"A lot of people like to hear this song here," said the stranger next door.
"It's a good song."
"Have you seen "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset", right?" As if there was a smile in the depths of the years, when it was mentioned, it felt warm. Sugar cubes melt in coffee mugs like an old story.
Nine years ago, an American tourist traveling with a brokenhearted met a French schoolgirl on a train. Unfamiliar but excited. Jesse invited Celine, who was going back to Paris, to get off the bus and spend the night before returning to the United States. The two strangers traveled through Vienna, and what they saw led to more hit-and-run topics. Jesse doesn't want to fall into the second paragraph of love that separates Europe and the United States, and the two agreed not to leave contact information. Jesse begins to regret it as the train leaves the station, and he and Celine have hastily agreed to meet here on the same day in six months' time.
Six months later, Celine missed her appointment. After that, they went to study, fall in love, and work respectively. Fortunately, they are no longer the romantic young people they used to be; unfortunately, they both have many dreams that have been abandoned, but they can never forget the good nights they spent together and the sincere feelings for each other.
Nine years later, the two met unexpectedly at the Shakespeare and Bookstore in Paris. Jesse, who has become a writer, has released a new book, which was written in memory of that year in Vienna. The press conference is over, and there are only two hours left before Jesse goes to the airport to return to New York. Before sunset, Jesse and Celine walk through the alleys of Paris at dusk. They were separated from each other at first: Celine saw in the newspaper that Jesse was married and had children, but he was alone; Jesse was hurt by Celine's missed appointment nine years ago, and he even tried to trick Celine that he didn't show up. When Jesse learned that Celine was forced to break the appointment because of the sudden death of her grandmother, when Celine found out that Jesse was not happy, the two couldn't help but want to leave the nine years blank in a short 120 minutes. They walked into this coffee shop in the 11th district:
"I really love this place, if only America had a cafe like this," Jesse said.
"Yeah, I missed it when I lived in America. I mean, I found a few places I liked too.."
"You.. you used to live in America?"
"96 to 99. I Studied at NYU."
"Gosh, Celine, don't tell me this!"
"What?"
"Nothing, just.. I mean.. I've lived in New York since '98.. We used to live there at the same time. "
"In New York?"
"Uhm"
"It's really..it's amazing.."
"Actually, there were times when I thought maybe I'd run into you, but..the chances are pretty slim, aren't they. .. Once upon a time.. I don't even know what city you live in.. don't you live in Texas?"
"Yeah, I've been there for a long time.. I just.. want to see New York."
...
walk out of the cafe , Jesse urges Celine, who lives in Paris but has never been on a Seine cruise, to try it. "I've never been on a cruise ship, it's for tourists, it's a shame," Celine said and went aboard with Jesse. The sunset seen from the Seine made Celine sighed infinitely: "It's amazing, I've never been on a boat like this, I almost forgot how beautiful Paris is."
Before sunset, Jesse sent Celine home, and Celine sang to commemorate the year Song by Encounter:
Let me sing you a waltz
Out of nowhere, out of my thoughts
Let me sing you a waltz
About this one night stand
You were for me that night
Everything I always dreamt of in life
But now you're gone
You are far gone
All the way to your island of rain
It was for you just a one night thing
But you were much more to me
Just so you know
I hear rumors about you
About all the bad things you do
But when we were together alone
You didn't seem like a player at all
I don't care what they say
I know what you meant for me that day
I just wanted another try
I just wanted another night
Even if it doesn't seem quite right
You meant for me much more
Than anyone I've met before
One single night with you little Jesse
Is worth a thousand with anybody
I have no bitterness, my sweet
I'll never forget this one night thing
Even tomorrow, another arms
My heart will stay yours until I die
Let me sing you a waltz
Out of nowhere, out of my blues
Let me sing you a waltz
About this lovely one night stand
Jesse is going or staying, no one knows the ending.. The
afternoon sun gradually sinks
"Are you waiting for someone?" asked the stranger next door.
"No, I'm choosing a location for the outside
shoot ." "It's a coincidence, last Wednesday, I came here to take a set of photos."
"Last Wednesday? I'm here too."
"If I remember correctly, you were sitting in your red coat. The window seat."
"That's right, that's me."
The photos taken by strangers were sparse, and the female artist's humming made the sound of the waves passing by the boat on the river and the sound of the paddle hitting the water.
