The police appeared three times in the movie. The first time Tang was arrested because of homosexuality, and Tony was not allowed to bribe the police to get out; the second time it was because the police discriminated against Tang and spoke insult to Tony, and Tony was furious. After attacking the police, Tang called the then U.S. Attorney General Bobby Kennedy and rescued the two.
The third time, it was also the time when I was in my tears. Tang and Tony were stopped by the police on their way back to New York. I thought this was another plot of setbacks between Tang and Tony on the road arranged by the director, but I didn’t expect it. The police only saw their tires burst in the heavy snow, stopped them and reminded them for their safety. The policeman stood in the heavy snow and directed the vehicle. Tony changed tires on the side, but before Tony got in the car and left, the policeman's words "Merry Christmas" burst into tears inexplicably. The various discriminations of the southern police along the way make this police officer’s blessing more precious and touching.
