Lao Tim Laozi

I have always liked Tim Burton's films, and what attracted me most to his films was not his unique black art style (although this was a plus for his films), but his film type. The first film that came into contact with him (or, to be precise, the first film that he directed), was not Edward Scissorhands, or the Batman episode or two that made him famous, but him. Ed Wood was released in 1994. Ai Huo Biography is about the life of Ai Huo, played by Johnny Depp, a Hollywood B-level sci-fi cult director ), known as the king of bad movies. I remember that I didn't know who Gableton was at the time, but I was attracted by seeing the movie poster after watching Johnny Depp's "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" (What's Eating Gilbert Grape). In the process of watching the movie, I was amazed at the film's deliberately shooting in black and white, and the actors' antique performance techniques. I was even more surprised that the director would choose to pay tribute to a director who was unsuccessful in his life (Ai Huo did not have a set of films that sold very well). From the movie, he deeply felt that the director appreciated Ai Huo’s life-long insistence on his beliefs in filming – this It was the first time I met Timberton.

The attraction of Timberton's films lies in their dark humor and the marginality of their content. His marginality lies in the story of his films, his second film Beetlejuice, about how a villain is brought to justice by a family, Batman is a marginal man in society, Batman is written by Frank Miller He is a little neurotic, a little schizophrenic (so he wears a mask to hide his wealthy businessman status), a person who advocates violence, Ai Huo Chuan is an unsuccessful director about his obsession and obsession with movies, "Martians play on Earth" It is about subverting the Hollywood alien story. At the end of the film, an old and powerless old woman and her filial grandson defeated the Martian with an old song. His marginality is also reflected in the characters. The aforementioned Aihuo, Edward Scissorhands in Roma, the lovely Jack in the Night of the Weird City, and the old woman in The Martian Playing the Earth are abandoned in the nursing home. . But it is also because of these marginal people and his storytelling skills that break our conventional thinking: the saviour heroes must be the sunshine family, Halloween is the haunting of ghosts; skulls are extremely vicious, and biographies cannot be separated from big bullies or successful characters. Bring me endless surprises.

But recently, I watched two of his films: "Chocolate Award Doorman" and "Crazy Corpse Bride", but I felt very lost. Although Timberton still implements his grotesque character in terms of styling, the story and characters are clichés. The Chocolate Awards are basically a set of preaching stories. In the story, the good boy will win, and the bad boy will get a lesson. The logic is obvious. Even though he brought in his old partner Johnny Depp to play a big manufacturer who had not appeared for many years, and showed many mysterious expressions during the film, it turned out to be just a story of a prodigal son in the end. Although the grotesque corpse bride closely follows the night of the grotesque city (such as the puppy inside, the appearance of the heroine, etc.), it turns out that a kind person can finally overcome evil, and a lover will eventually become a family. So, I wouldn't say that these two films are Timberton's style, at best, musicals that he made with money.

The actors and productions are very exquisite, but the common people like me, prefer the lively [Christmas Nightmare], always feel that the underground world should be more exciting, complex and darker

Poor zombie girl. Tangled fate. Fulfilled. Let go. Then it emerges into a butterfly. The piano ensemble is great. If love could be as harmonious and sweet as the music flowing through your fingertips.

Corpse Bride quotes

  • The Corpse Bride: We need to go up. Upstairs? To visit the land of the living.

Elder Gutknecht: Land of the living? Oh, my dear.

The Corpse Bride: Please, Elder Gutknecht.

Elder Gutknecht: Now, why go up there when people are dying to get down here?

Victor Van Dort: Sir, I beg you to help. It means so much to me... us.

Elder Gutknecht: I don't know. It's just not natural.

The Corpse Bride: Please, Elder Gutknecht. Surely there must be something you can do.

Elder Gutknecht: Let me see what I can do.

  • Victoria Everglot: Hildegard, what if Victor and I don't like each other?

Maudeline Everglot: Hmpf! As if that has anything to do with marriage. Do you suppose your father and I "like" each other?

Victoria Everglot: Surely you must, a little.

Maudeline EverglotFinnis Everglot: Of course not!
