Pain is for reconciliation

"The Birth of a Star" talked a lot about family affection, love, self-identity and belief. Self-identity and belief are the things within the self and are the most important; love and family affection are the extension of the self, and the things outside the self.

Relatives give us life, give us company, give us indelible memories, and let us be ourselves; love gives us flames, gives us strength, gives us the most intimate feeling, and keeps us getting better. Therefore, it is easy for us to get lost outside of ourselves, and value family affection and love above ourselves. But we must realize that family affection and love are not our own. Just like the photosynthesis of plants, light can bring nutrients to plants, but light is not a part of plants. "Self" is a complete life, an individual independent of others. Its core is self-perception. A healthy self will nourish family affection and love and form a virtuous circle, allowing love and energy to flow between loved ones and loved ones. Form a close and cordial relationship.

Native family is used for reconciliation

We are constantly discussing the negative effects of the native family and attribute many problems to the native family.

Some problems in the native family may indeed bring us long-term pain. In the film, Jackson has an alcoholic father. His father is often drunk, even unaware of his attempts to hang himself. Little Jackson was influenced by his father and got into the habit of drinking. As his brother Bob said: "What Dad does for you is to make you his alcoholic partner." This brought great disaster to his life. He has been trying to get rid of his father's negative influence on him, but they appear and disappear like ghosts.

Objectively speaking, he did not get the opportunity to rebuild the relationship with his father. From a subjective point of view, he himself has been evading and avoiding the past. Although he bought the land where he grew up, the land where his father was buried, and gave him to his brother, it was just a means of masturbation. He didn't have a good opinion of Arizona, and he didn't take the initiative to get a good opinion. Objective and subjective factors caused his tragedy in life. The lyrics sang "I'm very happy that those years are gone and will pass forever." But the impact of those painful years has been with him throughout his life. He did not really reconcile, did not really forgive, he has been living as a victim.

The relationship between him and Bob positively illustrates the importance of reconciliation with family. In the beginning, Jackson had no close affection for his half-brother Bob. Although Bob has always been Jackson's attendant, he sincerely loves him. During the concert, cheer for Jackson backstage, and take care of his daily life after the concert. Jackson believed that Bob was an incompetent person, unable to write a song, and because he was too proud to sing a song written by others; without his help, Bob would only stay in the walnut all his life. He even fought Bob because of a trivial matter.

Bob left him, the phrase "I quit" was full of sadness and sadness. In goodbye, he told Jackson that everything would be a lot easier without him, but at the end of the conversation, Bob still said that he would call me if he had any trouble. As the elder brother, Bob has always loved him. I can imagine that if Jackson's father was still alive, he would love Jackson too.

When Jackson was confused, and when he was cast aside by everyone because of his drug use, he said: call Bob. He later told Bob to his face that it was not his father he had always admired, but Bob, and Bob's eyes were red. He took the initiative to reconcile the affection between him and Bob.

The native family certainly has many problems, but problems are used to solve them, and family affection is used to reconcile them.

Only oneself can save oneself

Ellie and Jackson, both of them have their own weaknesses. Alice is not confident from the inside out, while Jackson is a drunk and drug addict.

Jackson has been encouraging Ally. He praised her nose and took her to the concert. She gradually emerged in his concert and signed a record company, but she was still not confident and she needed more confirmation to complete her self-identification. She didn't believe that people would listen to her inner voice, so she began to cater to the audience and began to sing saliva songs.

She became more and more self-defeating, but when others told her that she looked like a star, she felt happy. She is willing to live in the aura of a star. Since you are not confident, then always get self-identification in the applause of others. Unfortunately, this method treats the symptoms but not the root cause. Her plan to take Jackson on a tour was rejected by her agent, so she cancelled the tour. She loves him and is willing to give up the tour for him. But when she was about to lose her aura, she felt depressed. Her self-confidence comes from applause, so she will always long for applause.

Jackson was burdened by the injuries of his native family, and alcohol and drug addiction often harass him. After meeting Ai Li, he got temporary relief, so he proposed to her, thinking that starting a family was a solution. He had hoped that this was a way to solve his own problems.

But it turned out that he had a drug addiction at her awards ceremony and made a fool of himself in public. He was very guilty of this. Ellie told him it was okay. But he didn't really forgive himself, so when the agent told him ruthlessly that he had caused a lot of damage to Ai Li's career and that he always let others clean up the mess, he broke down.

He chose to end his life. He couldn't really face the past, he couldn't really face his illness, he couldn't be brave anymore.

Love is a narcotic

What is moving is that the love between them has not wavered. Love is not something the film wants to criticize.

Although their status has changed-Alice has become a new star and Jackson has fallen to the ground, but they still sincerely appreciate each other and are sincerely willing to pay for each other.

It's a pity that love is just a narcotics, not a cure. A person who is burdened with a problem, when with someone close, the problem will not be resolved, but will be ignored, it will always be there.

Their love is blameless. Unfortunately, they failed to use their own strength to solve their own problems, but instead placed their hopes on others.

This is not to say that people who are addicted to drugs and alcoholics are not worthy of love, but that they should not try to solve their own problems through love. That is tantamount to drinking poison to quench thirst.

What we need is to save ourselves.

Whether family affection or love is external, a healthy self is needed to maintain the operation of love and form a virtuous circle.

As Zhang Defen said: "My dear, there is no one outside, only you." As long as we are willing, everything can be solved, don't escape, don't back off.

It is not that people with defects are not worthy of love, but that they should not avoid their own responsibility to solve problems because of relying on them. I hope others will be disappointed.

This is not pessimistic, because we always have a better self.

A Star Is Born quotes

  • Jack: Can I touch your nose?

    Ally: Oh, my gosh.

Jack: Let me just touch it for a second.

[He slides his finger down her nose]

    Jack: You're very lucky.

    Ally: Oh, really?

    Jack: M-hm.

Ally: Yeah, not really. My nose has not made me lucky.

  • Jack: Look, talent comes everywhere. Everybody's talented, fucking everyone in this bar is talented at one thing or another. But having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that's a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you'll never know. That's just the truth. And there's one reason we're supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. Don't you understand what I'm trying to tell you?

Ally: Yeah, I do. I don't like it, but I understand it.

Jack: Oh, I think you like it a little bit.
