Monumental Spirit

Before the movie started, I vaguely guessed that it was a disaster movie, and with the setting of the protagonist Capitan, it should be a type of hurricane at sea.

The plots of disaster films are generally flat before, and the disaster clips break out in a concentrated manner, and finally there is a happy ending. So even if I knew it was a disaster movie, I didn't worry about the captain and several crew members. Even at the last moment of the movie, it was always based on inertial thinking. However, the movie is over, and I still haven't waited for the ending I expected.

Capitan is arrogant, strong and unwilling to give in. He really loves the sea, wants to prove himself, and wants to make a lot of money. He will even think that the source of the tragedy lies in him, and will be resentful for his stubbornness. If he is willing to take a step back and the crew is willing to take a step back, will the whole situation be reversed?

Obviously, the director is using such a true story to commemorate these people who died in Hainan, and to express their admiration for their fearless spirit.

We all hope that those who work hard will find happiness, but the reality may not be what we can turn around, an ending of the movie is irrelevant, this spirit, emotion has always been a part of the people in this place forever (monumental)

A very shocking shipwreck disaster film, but the whole film does not have a clear theme. Is it to express the invincibility of the whole nature, or to express the survival spirit of the crew at that time? Or is it a brave warrior who has to pay the price for his actions after all?

I knew it was starring George Clooney. Hunters hunt, fishermen fish, harvest, or die in the hands of nature. This is a simple natural cycle. The hero may not come back alive, so I really like the ending of the story. Unlike this messy world full of femininity, this is a masculine man movie.

The Perfect Storm quotes

  • Bobby Shatford: [in the bridge of the Andrea Gail] So, what are you so happy about?

Captain Billy Tyne: You just caught me on a good night. I'm doing what I was made to do - and I've got a feeling I'm going to do it even better this time.

  • Melissa Brown: [on board the Mistral] This weather fax just came in. Edie, have a look at this.

Edie Bailey: We have got to head in now! Put in at Watch Hill!

Alexander McAnally III: In this stuff, harbor's too dangerous.

    Melissa Brown: Dangerous?

Alexander McAnally III: Dash into shore, cut across shipping lanes...

Edie Bailey: This is a hurricane coming straight at us!

Melissa Brown: Let me reduce sails, Sandy, or even go back home.

Alexander McAnally III: This is my boat. We're gonna ride this thing out, not for fun, for safety. Do what I've always done: go with the flow.
