Tony received a call from the police in the evening to pick up the doctor who had made love with the man and was arrested. Facing the doctor's questioning about him bribing the police, he didn't mention his contempt for the doctor's sexuality (after all, it was in the 1960s). The doctor apologized to Tony the next day. Tony stood at the corner of the stairs and turned his head back. He only said indifferently that he had been working in a New York bar for most of his life, knowing that this was a complicated world...it really hit the tears in an instant.
