A different perspective on WWII

This is a film about World War II from a German perspective. It reflects the war-weariness and anti-war theme in the German army in the late World War II, when Germany was invincible for a long time.
It has the heroic image of the American test
but lacks the traditional image of German strict discipline in American blockbusters.
Especially the attitude of the protagonist Stana when answering questions from the superiors and their saluting gestures always gave me the illusion of "this is an American movie".

Two and a half stars, known as Peckinpa's last good film, but it feels too good. The Prussian noble officer regarded himself as lofty and wanted to win the Iron Cross, but he was greedy for life and fear of death, fled in the face of battle, killed the good and took advantage of it, but only shot and did not change the magazine. The protagonist is rebellious and battle-hardened. In the end, he did not choose to fire on the officer who betrayed him, but forced him to fight with the Soviet army with himself. Finally, the movie ended with his wanton laughter. The contradictions and conflicts in the script are of course far-fetched, and Peckinpa's cuts and cross-cuts are not suitable for war films. The best thing to watch is the part where Steiner was shot by his own people when he returned, which was very tragic.
