Discrimination is an extremely complex social behavior. It's not just hate. When people encounter something they hate, their first reaction is usually to avoid it. For example, the coriander in the tofu brain, and the spare tire that makes the goddess want to take a bath. But in addition to being annoying, discrimination will always provoke each other unconsciously. It's like boyfriends and girlfriends who don't always tell the difference. In a sense, this is very much like love.
From this perspective, "BlacKkKlansman" is a romance film , much like "Gone with the Wind". The difference is that "Gone with the Wind" has been taken off the shelves because of racial discrimination. And "BlacKkKlansman" is a witty satire of a group of racists who are skin-first. Although I didn't win the Oscar for Best Picture, I still applaud Spike Lee for his social responsibility.
"Black Klansman"
Today we won't talk about movies, because love can't be spoiled, but we can talk about the past and present of blacks and whites. After all, first love is worth remembering. Knowing this, maybe you'll be better able to watch BlacKkKlansman.
In Europe in the early 15th century, the slave trade flourished . In order to get rid of the psychological burden of enslaving black people, white people gradually spread the argument that "black people ≠ people". The earliest appearance of racial discrimination was the lies of this group of white capitalists to legalize black slaves. Their union, from the very beginning, was for exploitation.
At the time, the United States, as a British colony, was a poorer place than Africa. In order to develop here, the great powers began to establish plantations in the United States to develop gold and silver mines, which required a lot of cheap labor . Driven by profits, a large number of black slaves were sold to the Americas. As a result, the black nation began to take root in the United States , especially in the south where the planting industry was developed.
Hundreds of years later, an American female teacher named Stowe wrote a book called "Uncle Tom's Cabin" . It became a better-selling novel than Harry Potter at the time. It tells the story of white slave owner Tom and black slaves, setting off a strong anti-slavery sentiment in the country. Indirectly exacerbated the contradiction between abolitionists and slave owners. In a sense, it was the bible for black people, and in a way, it accelerated the course of the Civil War .
Ten years after the novel was published, the famous Civil War finally began . In order to disintegrate the enemy from the inside, Lincoln, who was familiar with the art of war, began to use the slogan "liberate the black slaves" and encouraged the black slaves to rebel. The final battle was won, but the black slave problem was not really resolved. Because "national unification" is the goal of this war, and the so-called liberation of black slaves is just a by-product of the infighting of white capitalists. In essence, it is no different from "I love you for ten thousand years" in Andy Lau's mouth . It has some real feelings, mainly because of the urgency of the monkey. But the speaker has no heart, and the listener has a heart. Lincoln's emancipation became the seed of the slaves' desire for freedom.
Another hundred years have passed. Everyone knows the good friend of black people- Martin Luther King Jr. stood up and made the black people's voice for freedom reach the peak. Today, dark-skinned faces have appeared more and more on the international stage. Black movies also became politically correct at the Oscars. But has the status quo really changed?
I think there is still a long way to go.
CNN has reported a set of data.
For every dollar of wealth owned by the average white family , every black family has only $0.06 of wealth. The average wealth of black families who went to college was $30,000 , while the average wealth of white families who didn't go to college was $86,000 . The average wealth of a middle-income white family in the United States is nearly eight times that of a middle-income black family . And it took 228 years for black families to catch up to where white families are today .
This is America under big data. Even more dazzling than "BlacKkKlansman".
But there is still a mainstream opinion in society: the problem of blacks and whites today is class contradiction, not racial discrimination.
In the wake of the Ferguson incident , in which a black student was shot by a white police officer, Time magazine published an article titled "The Coming Race War Has Nothing To Do With Race." The article pointed out that the police's overreaction was not because of the color of the skin, but because of the poverty of the victim, because "poverty is synonymous with criminals" .
Putting aside this poverty itself, it is the unequal opportunity that discrimination leads to. Just talking about the sentence "Poverty is synonymous with crime" is the greatest sophistry. As ridiculous as "love is synonymous with marriage". But this kind of biased view is widely recognized and spread. Like sugar-coated "ethnology" , it is dangerous but full of temptation.
This temptation is because discrimination can bring privilege . It's like a girl can put in less effort as long as she acts like a spoiled child. White people can also strive for more benefits through racial superiority. It can be seen that the original intention of racial discrimination has not changed for hundreds of years. The essence is still class exploitation , rather than simply stopping at contradictions.
There is no right or wrong in itself, it is a means for individuals to strive for a larger living space, and it conforms to the law of the jungle. But after all we invented "fairness" and enjoyed its benefits. Those who break the rules need to be cast aside. Otherwise, there will be a return to an age of chaos without restraint, no security, no law, and no peace.
It can be seen that behind the ridicule of "BlacKkKlansman" is the truth of "cannibalism" . Spike Lee takes on more than the responsibility of a black man, but more of a better America . But I think the most dangerous ones are not extremists like the Ku Klux Klan. Rather, it is an understatement of the issue by the mainstream media. Without realizing the seriousness of "racial discrimination", no matter how many black people win the Oscar, it is only a daytime fireworks in the hearts of equalizers, with only sound and no light.
