"Drug lord"

It's an old movie. Taken in 2001. It is based on the true experience of American drug lord George Jung.

George went through the process of the family from well-off to poverty since he was a child. The company his father ran went bankrupt and had to survive. After George suffered a lot, he naturally developed an extremely strong desire for money. After he became an adult, he started to forge ahead in the society with this belief. Started as a small drug dealer, slowly moved towards wholesale, and later found the source of Colombian goods and became the general agent. At one point it controlled 85% of the U.S. marijuana market. made a lot of money. So there are big mansions and beautiful cars. From time to time some lavish banquets are held to show off their wealth. The end result, however, is to spend the rest of his life in prison.

From the experience of George's fortune, it is no different from the development process of ordinary businessmen. If George chooses other commodities, with his ability and intelligence, he also has the possibility of success after going through the above processes. George's father once said to him: "No matter what you do, you can do it well." Unfortunately, he chose to run drugs.

From here we can also get a glimpse of American values. That's where money comes first. In the lives of many of them, it is usually possible to behave politely, rationally, and amiably. It makes people feel that the American people are indeed living in a civilized society compared to Chinese aunts. But once the temptation of money is encountered, these masks are all torn off. For the sake of money, you can ignore the law and morality, you can abandon your innate emotions, and you can ignore the life and death of others. I thought for a while, if Bill Gates had encountered drugs instead of computers, maybe he would have done it, and he could have done it very successfully, enough to compete with George. It is often said that there are infinite opportunities in the United States, the opportunity to be president, the opportunity to be a star, the opportunity to get rich, the opportunity to live on the streets, and of course, the opportunity to become a big drug lord. Maybe this is the American dream that people yearn for?

Contrary to what Americans think, in our country, Confucian morality has always been advocated. Since ancient times, there has been an old adage that "a gentleman loves money and gets it right". Before obtaining wealth, I have to think about whether my actions have violated the interests of others, and whether they will harm their bodies and lives. If it is unethical, it will never be done. But after these years of keeping pace with the times, people's ideas are slowly changing. Not to mention that this transformation heralds social progress or regression, the pursuit of wealth has become the ideal goal of people. When watching this movie, I think most viewers have secret admiration for George's experience, and many friends secretly made up their minds to follow George as an example, and they must show their personalities to Sister A Qing! As for the harm caused by drug trafficking to people (George's ex-girlfriend is a direct victim) and the harm to social stability, they are not in their consideration. So in recent years, we have not only had drug trafficking and drug use here, but also other kinds of drugs. It has become the twists and turns that we cannot avoid on the road.

Leaving aside the legal and moral factors, the most obvious one is that, if you use George's business acumen, is it better to live a peaceful life? Or is it worth it to have more than ten years of dazzling scenery, and then spend sixty years in prison?

Then look at why he failed.

In the film, George and his cellmate Dedia have a conversation:

Dedia: "Do you have a dream?"

George: "You let me sleep and have dreams."

Dedia: "You have dreams, you can achieve them, but you fail. Why?"

George: "Because I got caught."

Dedia: "No, because your dream is wrong."

Maybe this dialogue was an unintentional act of the director, but I still think it's the "eye" in the whole film.

After careful scrutiny, the reason why George was imprisoned was not that he was caught, but that his mother, wife, and friends betrayed him. Although I have never taken seriously this kind of whistle-blowing, in the eyes of everyone, these whistle-blowing acts are undoubtedly doing justice. In fact, since George started dealing in drugs, he has made a deal with the devil. What the devil gives him is money and status, and what George has to pay is his conscience and the precious family affection in this world , friendship and love. Once this path is taken, human emotion ceases to exist. Just use each other. Anyone around him, when things are going well, can dote on George and flock to him. Once he endangered himself, he would betray his son, his husband, and his friends without hesitation. At the time, George was young and vigorous, and he didn't take what he was going to pay seriously. He thought that he had made a good deal, and all he saw was a lot of money. But later, he lost everyone's care, even his most cherished love for his daughter. Completely nothing. When people arrive at this, what is the use of a mansion? What is a sports car for? What is money for? It was also a dream for George that his daughter came to visit in prison. Looking around, George was left with despair.

Heard that the real George will be released in 2015. Now in his seventies, what is he going to do? Is it to go back to the old business, or find another way? Fortunately, the United States is vast and sparsely populated, and it is also a good choice for him to open up an orchard to grow "Qiao Orange".

The director of the film is very skillful. Although it is a little surprising to choose such a theme, but since I have chosen it, I will take it seriously. The actors acted well too. As for the director's inclination, that's only for the audience to judge.

When I was writing this afterthought, it was at the time when I was in the midst of a typhoid fever, and my drowsy head and soft hands knocked out incoherent words. I hope you will forgive me. It's better to praise or scold. Da Zan said, "The old man's writing is so good!" As soon as I was happy, the disease was cured. Or yelling: "This is just a piece of junk written by a demented old man!" When I got angry, I was sweating profusely, and my illness was healed.

My rating: 7.5.
