In fact, I have always considered myself to be biased towards idealism. Because there is no thought, no ego, then nothing can be talked about. Of course, there is another reason because I can't change the pain caused by my lack of material, so I can only give comfort through spirituality, and naturally I am inclined to idealism.
But after watching the movie "Miracles of the Universe", I suddenly realized that I have always been a materialist.
Because, my exposure to the knowledge of the world is through nine years of compulsory education, through science to understand the world. Even though I have been taught more or less by other religious forms, nothing I spend the most time with is textbook knowledge.
I agree that there is a physical universe, and the basic idea of physical matter. Also tend to Schopenhauer said: the state of thinking is the state of the brain. If we look at our thinking and perception processes not from the point of view of self-consciousness, but from an "objective" perspective, we must conclude that they are "no more than a physiological function of the internal organ of the brain." The human individual subject is different from other creatures in the world struggling to survive only because of the special organization of his or her brain that produces self-awareness and reasoning. We are not afraid to say that this soft pith, like a part of every plant or animal, is an organic structure, and it is an organic structure from all those who sit in the lesser heads of our irrational brethren. as lowly relatives, as even the most lowly creatures who have no comprehension.
Correspondingly, I also recognize my insignificance relative to the universe, as insignificant as dust.
Here are the titles of the four episodes:
Why do we have to move from the past to the future?
What are the substances that make up human beings? Where do these substances come from?
Gravity is one of the fundamental factors in the formation of the universe.
Not afraid of obstacles to traverse the vacuum of the universe, light waves help human beings to extend their sight.
In the universe, the earth is insignificant and insignificant. However, because of the existence of human beings, because of the standpoint of individual human beings, human beings must seek survival for their own well-being.
Human beings are a whole, a combination of body and mind. Why do animals have individual standpoints but not the complex minds of humans?
When this position is firm, the ego can rely on its thoughts to seek well-being for the individual and survive.
Of course, you can also use this to think about whether it makes sense to exist? Think about what human beings do to exist? What is a human being? Where did it come from? Where to go? What is the end of the universe? What is the ultimate human being? Suppose we know the ultimate, then we may ask, why is the ultimate so? What is beyond the universe? What's behind the black hole? Can man change the universe?
For example, a landslide and tsunami occurred at a certain time and place, and we can learn the horror of natural forces, but that's all. But assuming that there are casualties in the landslide and tsunami, and further assuming that there are casualties of loved ones, then this natural event has a different nature (the form of recognizing things from an objective point of view).
Why change the nature? Because once it involves itself, it also has a self-stance. The same is true for the universe. Assuming that people do not think about the universe from an individual standpoint, then the question of what the universe is will have no meaning, and the same is true of all things in life.
What is most worthy of human pride is that as long as they have a firm will and will not correct their concepts and ideas even after death, then human beings can also regard these concepts and ideas as truth. It doesn't matter if this notion is wrong.
Just like philosophers with different positions in every era, and every philosopher thinks they are pursuing the truth, then what exactly is truth?
From this, it can be concluded that what the self believes in at this moment is the truth at this moment.
The exhaustion of matter reaches its peak. If there is no individual or other standpoint, then there is no meaning. The universe is meaningful because I want to explore.
I don't know how other individuals have attitudes towards the existence of the universe and things in life. For me, everything has meaning only by virtue of the self-stance of the individual.
Therefore, I never refuse to explore the material and the universe. At the same time, I also explore deep in my heart, why human beings have such a self-stance, and where should human beings go with their self-stance.
I yearn for the ultimate of everything, and I will spend my whole life to reveal the ultimate. Although it may be a man's arm as a chariot and a mayfly shaking the tree, so what?
Therefore, this documentary strengthens my materialist worldview, and at the same time clarifies the idea that materialism exists by virtue of the spirit (individual position).
Therefore, the future life is the pursuit of both material and spiritual. In the final analysis, one is for peace of mind and the other is for physical satisfaction. Human beings are struggling with both.
Satisfying the body and spirit at the same time is probably the ultimate happiness.
However, the variety of physical satisfaction is inexhaustible, and at the same time, the bearing capacity of the physical body and spiritual satisfaction must be considered. Until now, various philosophers have been arguing endlessly, so how should individuals choose and adjust themselves to adapt to the group society to achieve personal happiness? ?
Furthermore, under the general trend of the times, under the laws of nature, under the complex communication between people in a group society, and under the power of money, how can one achieve what one wishes? Do we really need to get a certain amount of material to be happy? How should our spirit be compared to matter? How should we treat others? Attitude towards power money? Attitudes towards physical matter?
This is really a difficult problem that will take a lifetime to explore and solve.
Here I come to the conclusion that the spiritual aspect must be constantly thinking about reaching the peak as the goal. As for the material, it should be provided on demand, responsive to the needs, and prepared for any problems. It depends on the situation and personal ability.
To maintain a life like this is what is called a good life.
It seems to have said a digression, but that's it, this is the biggest gain of watching this documentary.
If we simply summarize this documentary, that’s it, starting from the Big Bang, the arrow of time keeps matter changing, and when it comes to the birth of human beings, it tells us that humans rely on light to explore the universe. What is gravity? What is relativity? So, it might be better for me to write this off-topic.
The above viewpoints are only those that I agree with, and they are not irreversible. Only by admitting one's ignorance can science continue to explore and discover, and so is the progress of man's own transcendence.
