I originally thought that as long as there was resistance to fried chicken, it should be fine to go to the "Green Book" on an empty stomach. As a result, I immediately rushed to the nearest restaurant after watching it and bought a lot of Leshan fried skewers, let the little brother sprinkle a lot of chili powder, and ate it deliciously, only to fill up the fat craving gully that the movie evoked.
"Green Book" is a typical "no coincidence, no book" movie. The filming is neat and old-fashioned, like a standardized work in the 1990s. There are a lot of foods in the movie, hot dogs, pasta, pizza, sweet pepper sandwiches... and of course fried chicken. Food is simply the third protagonist of this movie. Tony, the driver played by Vigo Mortensen, is a super-loving person. When he sees his meal, he will feel "so delicious" and feel hungry while watching.
Before the filming started, Mortensen went to the character prototype home to be a guest, and was frightened by the "Italian hospitality". The host could not see that the plate in front of him was emptied, and began to fight one by one like a wheel fight, "Farewell to them." No one would recognize him as the "Aragorn" in "The Lord of the Rings".

But in the end he accepted it and gnawed the fried chicken with both hands playing the piano.
A certain fast food brand seems to have done linkage marketing in some theaters, encouraging everyone to buy family buckets to watch movies. I was out of curiosity. I went to search for how David Zhang would rate this movie. After all, fried chicken was dedicated to one episode of his documentary "Ugly and Delicious", but I didn't find it. After watching the documentary, we can understand that for us, fried chicken is nothing more than a family bucket. For black Americans, it is just like a watermelon. It is a kind of stereotype.
Another food that impressed me a lot was the bell pepper sandwich. Tony picked up a sandwich from the waiter’s plate at a reception for the upper class in the south. After chewing a few times, it felt too unpalatable, so he spit it out with a paper towel. The bag was returned to the waiter. I was curious about how unpalatable this thing would be. I searched it. It turned out to be made with cheddar cheese and mature cheese, plus sweet peppers, mayonnaise, etc., to make a sauce, and then spread on bread, biscuits and other things to eat. It is the way of eating in the South of the United States, and there is also the title "Southern Caviar". This snack, like fried chicken, is another stereotype. Yankees like Tony are not used to the taste of southern farmers. This plot and fried chicken may actually be regarded as another correspondence, not purely funny like Tony rolls pizza or fights with hot dogs. In fact, the food itself is innocent, and it is the complicated human society that makes food weird.
btw said in an interview on imdb that Don talked about the relationship with Tony: "It's definitely not just the relationship between the employee and the boss. My life is in his hands. We have always been friendly." But is it considered friendship?
