Pola x is adapted from Melville's ("Moby Dick") novel. Pola is short for the novel's French name Pierre, ou les Ambiguities. X means that this is the tenth version of the script. I like this source very much. But I always thought that Carax should meet a woman he likes, burst into wonderful emotions, and then germinate a movie. I am very attached to him, but eight years after Xinqiao, he actually made such a work that he thought he was a failure.
Pola X, China's erotically talented D merchants translated it as a captive of beauty, so they used bold pictures as the cover. I don't blame them. There is a sex scene in the middle that can be regarded as an A-movie. In China, it is a waste not to use it as a gimmick. In fact, they can still describe it so truthfully. This film tells about two love triangles, as well as sister and brother incest. At the same time, there is still some kind of ambiguous relationship between mother and son...
Compared with other Carax films, Pola X has done it to some extent. Breakthrough, but it also retains some commonalities. In the film, Pierre derailed as if waiting, and the emotions he erupted were just like the three previous Alex, all of which were out of control and irrational. Perhaps this is what I like most about Carax, this kind of stubborn style seems very silly to me, but also extremely persistent.
