This does not make me guess, the biggest villain of the second season of Discovery is also a robot civilization, which also wants to destroy all organisms.
If that's the case, then, who's to say that the Orville next door is a copycat Star Trek? Maybe this is a huge joke made by the writers and directors of the two dramas~
